I don't know if everyone feels the same way, but I think that 2010 is the start of another baby boom.

I have come to this conclusion because other than myself being pregnant, it seems like just about everyone I know (or know of vicariously through someone else) is pregnant also. I think that it is a very interesting trend that should be looked into. If you know of anyone else who is having their first baby (or has had their first baby) this year, please invite them to join this group. I think it will be interesting!

I completely agree. I know of so many people who either have had a baby already or are pregnant now.

Personally, I think that the state of the economy may have some contribution to the new "baby boom." During the Great Depression, there was a significant increase in newborns that lasted through WWII. During the Depression, the reason behind it was because many people had children to help work on the farms, and medicine back then was not very advanced so there was a higher mortality rate in all age groups. However, the term "baby boom" was not applied until babies were born during WWII. Many men were going off to war, got married quickly which further led to their new brides getting pregnant, and of course the rest is 'history.' What makes this new wave of babies different than what we have seen in the past is that modern medicine is extremely advanced, child labor does not exist in the United States anymore, and we have longer life expectancies. I think that the trend is extremely fascinating, and I would love to do research to further look into it!

Its insane!! There are preggo bellies and newborns everywhere!! I have a lady that comes into my work and she said that they are expecting around 20 newborns this year at her church! There have been several at mine as well including myself! There must be something in the water this year.

I agree! I was thinking about this not to long ago. I know quite a few people who had or are going to have babies in 2010. I also seem to keep hearing about more almost everyday. Of course this doesn't include all the people I don't know.
