Hi I am 8 month pregnant and barely look pregnant... i have started to develop a complex about the fact that i dont have a baby bump and actually wear thing to try and make it look like i have a more developed bump. Little one is develpoing well and just on average size. I know the reason are that i am so tall and i am a plus size and i had been working really hard on getting fit just before i conceived, so i have strong stomache muscles, but even so I am so envious of moms with bellies. I see them everywhere...It is like having a pass to a club but not being allowed in beacuse you wore jeans unknowingly. Even at my Ante-natal classes the first thing people ask me is - are you sure the babies ok, is it developing normally.
Does any one else have this problem? To the plus size ladies out there - When did you start showing?

I did not start showing even a little till I was nearly 7 months pregnant. Its hard, sometimes would make me wonder if I was really pregnant or not. Then it seemed like almost over night I devoloped a bump. Its still not very big least not to me. I hope yours popped out finally

Actually it really doesn't have too much to do with how "strong" your stomach muscles are but how your Uterus sits inside your body and your amniotic fluid. I know girls who had a 6 pack tummy and got a huge round belly and vise versa. I am having my 3rd baby and not as physically fit as with my other two and my belly is the smallest now out of the three and she is going to be bigger than my first two, People say things .. you cant stop them so when they say something that is stupid like "are you sure your pregnant?" just blow it off. And to ask such questions dealing with the development or well being of your baby is just PLAIN STUPID!! just look at them and said "well my Doc seems happy with everything so far and all the test are coming back normal so I guess my lil one just wants to stay tucked inside nice and cozy" or I personally would have to point out the fact that you just dont ask questions dealing with the health of someones baby.. "Yes he/she is, Thank God because if not then that would have been a very emotional question to have to answer" I get ALL the time "wow, you having twins?" or "Do you need me to call an ambulance" not knowing if I was 7 months pregnant or 2 weeks late. I understand wanting that baby bump and having people know your pregnant... who knows maybe you will "pop" out during your last month or so.... I know someone who did that also :)

I was pretty small with my first baby, and I didn't have much of a belly either. It does have a lot to do with how strong your stomach muscles are and how the baby is positioned. It does give you a bit of a complex, but I was just happy my baby was healthy.

I hardly showed with my little girl (I'm plus sized, but lost weight while pregnant as I was very sick), when a stranger asked when I was due and I said "Actually my due date is on Thursday" He was shocked, he thought I was only about 5 months along, if that!! I had alot of friend pregnant at the same time and was very jealous of there bumps, espically when they were all showing by 20 weeks, and I was still struggling to get a bump still at 8 months lol

p.s. If you want folks to notice you're pregnant make or buy a cute T-shirt that says "bun in the oven" or something like that.

I am not a "plus size lady", but my belly was TINY! I think it was because I had very strong abdominal muscles, like you said. I had trouble getting people to let me sit down on the metro (Montreal subway) and when I would tell someone that I was 7, 8 or 9 months pregnant they would say "no way, your baby must be very unhealthy, you must be drinking alcohol or coffee". It was very upsetting at the time since I was not drinking anything but herbal tea and water, and not doing anything but prenatal yoga! Long story short, now I have a beautiful healthy baby and nobody could ever deny that when I walk down the street with her :)
