A friend recommend joining Curves. I'm going to check it out tomorrow. Just wondering if any others have tried it.

I use to do go to Curves and also worked there myself, it is good being only 30 minutes but that doesnt count the travelling time to and from 3 x a week, also i found it was good short term and the 6 week solution was great, but long term i seen very little results on most woman, i enjoyed getting out of the house 3 to 6 x a week early mornings while i had 2 children but when i fell pregnant with baby number 3 i kept going in to preterm labour and was not to exercise, then after the birth i went back and was bored with it, plus with 3 life was hectic and its hard to find time and to be bothered, plus going out for daily walks seemed so much easier, than trying to find someone to look after 3 kids, i was over the cirquit and wanted to feel body parts i had worked on and lift weights, but try it out and see how you go :)

I was just wondering if you were still considering joining curves.. I actually work there .. and I have only been working out there as well for a week and I can already see results.. its an easy 30 minute work out and only take 3 days out of your week .. I think its so much fun and you get a lot of support from the other wemon there.. but that is in my area it may be different where you live.

I was going to join too lol I did it when I was in high school even though I didn't need too and I liked it back then. It's low stress if you have body issues.

I joined curves and loved it. the machines were easy to use. i quit that gym because the owner turned out to be a flake and didn't pay the lease so they shut her down. i found out when i went to work out one day and there was an eviction notice with a big old lock on the door. i'm a member of another gym which i love.

I tried going to Curves a couple years ago. I really enjoyed the work out, but I found that their hours didn't fit into my schedule. They just weren't open early enough or late enough for me to make use of the facility without paying for childcare.

When I was in Curves, I started out really good and was loosing inches. I loved the ease of getting a full body workout and cardio all in one convenient place. I only quit because it was no longer convenient to my new job location and the hours were hard to work into my new schedule.

My mom goes to Curves (there isn't one that is convenient for me...) and she LOVES it. I have heard good and bad about it. I think it depends on who you find there - if there are people you find you want to work out with, then it will be good. I know that my mom tried another location and found that a lot of the women there seemed to attend just to stand around and gossip and people were not really about working out... I would check and see if they have a trial period set up for you to see if the environment works for you... be sure to go when you would normally try to go. Good Luck...

I now am a member of our local YMCA. My almost to be three year old son enjoys play group while I work out. I have found much more success at the YMCA regarding weight loss and gaining muscle, and just toning up. I joined September 2008, and am down 105 pounds. I would still like to lose 50 more pounds by July 2010.

I was a member of Curves three years ago.  I found more motivation to exercise outside the home.  Weight loss was slow, but steady.  It was neat to get measured and know that the inches were falling away.  Take care.  Good luck.  Elaine

I think Curves is a wonderful place to start. It gets you into a routine of exercise. And the equipment is easy to use. And most facilities are very friendly. I would see what options a available in your area. And find a place where you can try for a week. This allows you time to get a feel of if you like the people who work in the gym. And if you like the opportunities that the gym gives such as classes, training sessions, or even instruction of equipment. These all should play a part in what you should be looking for. Best of luck. Just remember if you like it you will do it regularly.

Hi Dawn,

I used to like going to Curves & I started losing weight after a while, but I just couldn't keep fitting into my busy life. I also knew that I would have to keep this up the rest of my life or I would gain it all back. But, I luckily I was introduced to something that allowed me to lose a couple pant sizes quickly & firm my muscles. Please read the below information I have written below & let me know what you think.

Do you or anyone you know want to lose 2 to 3 pant sizes? If you’re like every other woman out there you answered yes. I was introduced to a product called the Body Magic by Ardyss International. It's a garment you wear & seriously, within minutes you lose inches & within the first week you start seeing a difference even without the garment on. Doctors invented the garment, so a lot of research was done to make sure the garment was safe & comfortable. Basically, with the type of material the garment is made of it fits comfortably & you'll forget you have it on. You don't sweat at all. But, with the body temperature between the garment & your body it makes your muscles contract has if your were doing crunches or exercises all day. The garment lifts your butt muscles, tightens your stomach muscles & melts away your hips. I started wearing the Body Magic in July this year & I have lost 2 pant sizes. Once you get to the size you want that is it. You don't have to wear the garment forever. I thank God everyday for allowing me to be introduced to this company. I now work for Ardyss International & have quit my job. If you think about it this garment is something women not only need, but also want. There is also a men's shirt garment that does the same for the men that want to get their six packs back. This might sound too good to be true, but it is 100% guaranteed no matter if you're a man or woman & regardless of your size. The results are instant once you put the garment on & from there on the garment does it's magic. If this sounds like something you are interested in you can view a video at: www.slenderin10.com & also learn more information at: www.ardysslife.com/bodybymoore then contact me at luvbug0000@hotmail.com. An appointment with Ardyss will change your life.

I'm a trainer and nutritionist I'm in all different kinds of gyms, fitness centers and other facilities....and my experience with that kind of facility is not a very comfy one. But thats just my area. I know some women who love it and still go there. Its probably going to depend on your taste and atmosphere preference. Best of luck to you...any start is a good start;-)
