Creative ways to tell the Family

Does anyone have any ideas for a creative way to tell the family that I'm pregnant again? My son is 17 months now, and can't talk very well yet so he can't tell them (although that would be so cute) and we are meeting both sets of Grandparents for dinner on Saturday and I really want to be cute about telling them this time around. When I found out I was pregnant with Evan I was so excited I called everyone right after I took the test :-)

It is my dad's and father-in-law's birthday, so maybe something to do with the birthday.... I'm lost with this...

I ran into the same situation when I was pregnant with my second.  I bought an "I'm a Big Brother" tee and had him wear it to a family B-B-Q.  Then I just sat back and waited for someone to notice the shirt.  I didn't have to think about what to say I let my little guy's shirt say it all.

Well it went great telling the family :-) I found a "I'm the BIG brother" tshirt for Evan to wear and we hid it under his jacket until we sat down at the table for dinner. The funny thing was that it took about 20 minutes for anyone to notice what it said and then my Mom was so confused, she said "aww, that's cute, but he isn't a brother..." and my husband said "yeah, he is :-)" and she freaked out! It was so funny because the waiter was trying to talk to us when this happened and they all went crazy lol. Anyway, so the "new baby" and Evan gave both Grandparents a card and "I love Grandpa" bib, so it was really cute. Thanks everybody for your help, I had a lot of fun doing the surprise!

How exciting!!!!  Please tell us how it goes!!  I loved having my kids close in age.  They are best friends!!  They do argue but they still love each other so much!  I never had to deal with the older one being jealous of the new baby.  Throughout my pg I bought little toys for Dylan (my oldest) and put them all into a gift bag.  When Justin was born he "gave" his new big brother a present.  Dylan wasn't even 2 1/2 and now at 8 he still remembers that bag full of gifts from his new baby brother!  Good luck!!

Thanks! Those are some great ideas! Maybe I'll get him a shirt AND write it in the birthday cards. I don't know if they let you bring a cake (or if anyone will have room to eat it) at a Japanese Steak house, but that would be so cute! I'm really excited to tell the grandparents and uncles, it has been so hard to not tell everyone I meet that I'm pregnant :-) I'm really excited Evan will have a little brother or sister to play with!

First of all, congrats!!!  I like the cake idea.  When I got pg with my 2nd, my oldest son was around your son's age.  I went to the store and bought one of those cute "I'm the big brother" t-shirts.  We took him to my parents house and let them figure it out by reading his shirt.  It was so funny!!  Good luck!

Maybe on the cake you can write Happy Birthday

Love your Grandson and The new baby on the way :)

Or you can always put a ultra sound picture in the birthday cards and write all the names in the card and little one on the way :)
