What is something that you have done lately for "YOU"? What is something that made you feel good and bring some balance to your life?

For me...

1. I have made myself do my workouts regularly...which is making me feel strong.
2. I got my hair cut and colored!! Amazing how a little change can make a big difference in self esteem!

Let's share our ideas and get to know each other a little better!!

Thanks everyone!! I am so happy that everyone is enjoying this post. I have to tell you all, that you ALL encourage me to keep up with goals. I often get caught up in "life" and it is so easy to lose focus. With all of you, I am reminded to make myself a priority and it is ok to tell the kids no and take that time needed for myself. Whether, it is working out or just taking some time to give myself a facial every once in awhile. So, I wanted to say thank you all so much!!!

Lori

I went shopping and actually bought myself outfits. I can't remember the last time I did that. I start out shopping for me and end up buying for my son or the grands. So that was a big deal to me!!!

Ladies,

I LOVE reading this thread! It is so great to hear what everyone is doing. It makes me feel like I am not the only mom out there that has lost a sense of who I am since having my boys. It is so hard to regain that, but everyday is one step in the right direction!! ;-)

Jenn - I completely agree with what you said. It seems like women tend to put much more pressure on themselves then what is needed. It is hard enough to raise kids and run a house, let alone trying to keep everyone thinking that it is a piece of cake. It is hard and I know that I am not perfect at it. Everyday I think to myself...how did I do today. Some days I feel successful and others...well, let's just say that I figure tomorrow will be better! LOL!

Lori - About a year ago it seemed like we weren't able to put any money in the bank and we didn't know where the paycheck was going. My husband and I sat down and pulled all of our bills together, made a spreadsheet of what should be coming in and going out. For the bills like electric that vary each month, we took the average of the previous 6 months and then put that amount aside for that bill. We even budgeted in entertainment, house (lawnmower stuff, week killer, etc), groceries, toiletries, etc. We even have a holiday fund, my husband and I get so much each a month for ourselves, our kids have a fund and we have some to put into savings. Now each of these amounts are not a lot, but it is a little something. Now when I go to the store for something I get the receipt and break everything down and deduct it from each catagory. It is a lot at first, but now it is just part of my routine. I know where every cent goes and I really found out what we were wasting money on. Now we ask ourselves, do we really need this item? Usually it is no and when a fund is gone, it is done. We even have gas fund for our vehicle. It makes us really watch how much we travel. It has helped us out tremendously!

Candi - I have always wanted to take tap dancing lessons, but I tought because I am 34, I am too old to start that. Maybe I will look into it.

Dancing is a passion for me so I make time for myself every week. I take ballet and tango lessons once a week and it really makes a difference in my overall attitude. It makes me happy!

Thanks Lori!

I love this message... it is so empowering to hear positive self talk! I feel like women in general are always so down on ourselves and it's so good to hear what people are doing to make themselves feel great!

I love the feeling of a new hair cut... it is amazing what it can do :)

One thing I did recently is I got a part time job (outside the home because I work from home and generally live in my sweat pants. lol) It gives me a reason to use a whole lot of clothes in my closet that I haven't touched since my son was born almost 4 years ago and helps me really feel like a woman over and above just feeling like a mom. lol

Thanks, Jenn Bain

Thank you everyone for sharing! I really do love to hear that mom's are doing something for themselves. It is so easy to get caught up in the demands of motherhood, let alone the guilt (from doing something that doesn't involve your child) that no one tells you about after you have a child. Keep the posts coming!!!

I got a new late-late Summer outfit, gonna get my hair cut and colored (M.I.L.'s a hair dresser) and got a new computer for school from the in-laws, SO helpful. F.I.L. also got the family a gym membership, pool's are the coolest thing ever for babies.

Thanks for the conversation starter Lori! I've been writing a lot more to help other moms pull them selves "back together". Regardless if your diet is poor, your physical activity has changed, or you no longer have the inner peace you once had... everything is connected!! I love hearing about what others are doing to inspire and help themselves to feel better!! It helps me to step outside of my box and try things that I have either never tried or have never thought to try.

Tui - This may sound like a silly question but, is a hot house like a greenhouse? That is so wonderful that you found a job that you are going to touch people's lives in such a positive way. All it takes is one person who cares to change the path for someone else who may feel lost.

Keri - Good for you!! You are on vacation and you still are working out. I give you credit, when I think of vacation...well, I think of being lazy!! ;-) You have inspired me to continue with my workouts while on vacation!!

Marie - I agree with you 100% about working out and your mood. I am much calmer and I feel like I have a balance when I workout. Congrats to you on your newest addition!! That is wonderful!

Thanks everyone!!

1. Got my hair cut and colored.
2. Mani-Pedi
3. Facial
4. Regular Workouts

I've noticed that the regular workouts have helped to balance my mood. Although I'm much more tired lately (just found out I'm pregnant with my second - my first is only 10mo now), I'm not grumpy. The facial I can only afford to do every other month. But the pedicure I try to get once a month and the hair cut every two to three months. I'm going to start doing prenatal yoga some nights after my LO falls asleep. That's if I have the energy left. Thanks for the feel good conversation!!

Hey Lori,
Well, even though we are on holiday we are doing the aquaaerobic class everyday and walking seven flights to and from our room!!! Plus any other fun like activity we can do with the kids. Plus I gave myself a facial and an all over sea salt scrub with my fabulous Arbonne Seasource products!!! My skin feels awesome and overall I feel fabulous!!! Always good to take care of yourself!!!
