I am starting this thread in hopes to keep this going. whenever you find out something that is going on, feel free to let us know!! includes, things to do, places that you find interesting or helpful, garage sales, websites, favorite stores.. anything!!

anyone ever go to the store Ollie's, in Watertown? i think that store is great, they have a lot of good stuff at waay cheaper prices!

First off, as we know, Halloween is right around the corner. Does anyone know of any events going on? like anything on post, or off, such as-hayrides, pumpkin patches in the area, anything for the kids?

I do have facebook, and have the mwr thing on mine... they don't really seem to give out much info on things going on around town.. just on post. and i don't really like to go on post for much...(we live in watertown about 15 minutes away) also.. way off topic, but drumyardsales.com is cool. it's a bookoo site and i used the one at fort polk and made lots of money off there (it's like craigslist only better in my opinion) but not many people seem to use the drum bookoo. i've emailed the owners of the website about having a bookoo underground (which is like a forum kinda thing for people in and around drum). fort polk had one and it was a really good way to stay up to date on whats going on, but drum does not have one because they- (the owners of the website) said that nobody is requesting it and this bookoo is not that big yet. i wish they had one!
anyway.. not many people check this 'drum mommas' either... but i will continue to post on whats going on around the area that is interesting!

I hope you do keep this as a streaming post it will be so helpful when we get there. I'm already noting the stores I love bargains: )

yesterday we went to the Burrville cider mill-18176 County Route 156 Watertown, NY 13601-5734(315) 788-7292, it was soo crowded, but got some awesome pictures of a waterfall that was right behind it. it's pretty much just a cidermill with store, they have apples and pumpkins outside that you can buy. wasn't really something for kids. I would like to try backyard farmer, adams isn't that far away, but can't find out when the 'annual fall festival' is.

Thanks for the info, Amy. We haven't been to the zoo yet but the kids are looking forward to it. I know my 8 year old will enjoy the non-scary trail, I have a feeling my 12 year old will tell me it's lame. She is at the age that everything is either lame or boring. We went to the Oktoberfest yesterday at the Thousand Island's Winery but there wasn't much to do for the kids. There is a miniature golf and gokart place right outside of post but they are already closed down for the season.

great! thank you! we've been to old mcdonald's farm during the summer it was pretty neat, went on the hay ride and fed hay to the cows and pigs while on it. also did the tour of the dairy farm, they show you each group of cows, young, "teenagers" and the mama's.

We took the kids out to Old MacDonald's Farm in Sacket's Harbor last weekend. They have a neat little hayride and corn maze that is included in your admission. The Dairy tour is extra and we didn't have time to do it, but I wouldn't mind trying it next time we go. The kids loved it, and all the animals were friendly, as well as the workers.

We drove past Ollie's but didn't stop and look around. I would like to check it out, maybe sometime this week while the kids are in school.
