My son has a sibling!

We got a call from our agency today wanting to know if we wanted to foster/adopt (legal risk) a 2 day old baby boy, healthy. Since we have been trying to foster adopt girls for the last year we were at first confused why they even called, but... The baby is our 3 year old's (have had since birth) biological brother (same mother). Pretty much same situation as our son, labor induced by cocain hit (?) (atleast not preemie this time), no drugs in baby's system, then Mom leaves hospital and disappears, no known Dad. Anyone else done this before? Any hints on adopting a sibling a couple of years after the first?

So our sweet baby boy is 16ms now and the adoption is still not finalized! One hold up after another! Crazy system!!! Finally did the placed for adoption paperwork last week and hope to have the final court date before the end of the month! Since his older brother's adoption took until he was 22m, this is still quiker but it's not the 12m we were "promised" up front! Here's the fun thing though, I have the same 18m sweater vest my older son wore for his adoption for his little brother to wear for his! :-)

Happy to hear this worked out for you! We adopted siblings that are two years apart... It's so great to have them together and we have contact with an older sibling that was adopted by another family. I wouldn't change it for the world!

What a great story! I hope it all goes well in a timely fashion. I am new to this site as my husband and I are just starting the foster/adopt process in a new county. We were very close to being certified in another county a year ago but then he got laid off and we moved. I can't wait to see what opportunity waits for us.

We have been over joyed with the addition to our family! We call him our suprise blessing!!! He is healthy and growing at 7m. We are still waiting on termination but it should happen by June and then the adoption is supposed to be completed as quickly as possible!

I'm sorry I don't have actual experience with this, but my heart goes out to you. I think if I were in your situation, I would want to fost/adopt sibling in spite of the risks. I realize this post is from Oct, any new developments?
