Well, I hope to get some advice from you all who have been in a situation similar. We have 3 sons, my husband & I had a deal that if we didn't have a girl by #3, I would have a tubal...well, I was heartbroken and cried the whole time :( 4 months after our tubal hubby woke me up and said "We should have had another one" I wanted to beat him lol. Well, that was almost 7 years ago, and we both know it was a huge mistake :( So, we have decided to adopt a child from the foster system or take in foster children, and if one becomes available that we are fostering that will fit our family, adopt the child. Our first order of business is moving into a bigger house next year. We only have a 3 bedroom right now, and with 3 boys and 3 dogs, it's a bit much. Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

Debbie,
I was in and out of foster care a good bit growing up since my mom was constantly hopsitalized for kidney issues. I'm well aware that the children we receive in placement will try to be reunited back to their families. I'm also aware that they can have emotional, mental and physical limitations. The foster thing wasn't for a daughter. I was just saying that if we found a child (actually male or female) that was eventuallly placed up for adoption that we already felt connected to, that we would proceed then. I also have a degree in Human Development & family studies, so I'm a little more prepared than I would've probably have been :)

Hi Phoebe, congrats on your decision to become a foster/adoptive mom! It's the most wonderful thing I have ever done. My advice would be to start now, even before the move if you are planning on living in the same area. It took my husband and I 18 months to get through the process...applications, parenting classes, first aid/ cpr classes, physicals, homesudy...etc. It takes a good long while to get your license.
