How long did your placement take?

My husband and I are in week 8 of our adoption training classes. Only three more to go! We are planning to adopt a waiting male under 11. I was wondering how long it took to have a child placed in your home for adoption if you used DHR?

Our adoption for our oldest has taken 1 year almost exactly. She was placed with us 08/05/11 and our final adoption hearing is 08/03/12. :) So happy that it is finally going to be over!!!!!

We are very open to the child we are willing to take, so we got our first placement call before we were done with classes. The child was put into temporary shelter for a period of time for us to finish the classes and then moved to our home ASAP.

It is going to vary with every adoption you do. For our boys, once the paperwork and training was done, 4 months. We fostered two girls and they were placed with us a day after we got the call. They are no longer with us as they went to a relative. We have been trying to adopt again and it has taken a year and a half since we started and still no permanent placement.
