What kind of nurse are you all interested in being. I want to be a labor and delivery nurse.

I am a CNA finishing up pre-req's for the nursing program and I just got a job on Telemetry - have my first 12 hour nigh shift tonight. Any ways, I originally got into nursing for L&D or Mother/Infant or Nursery but have been encouraged to check into NICU. They say after my experience on Telemetry that might a great place to go. The hospital I work at wants to see their employees go as far as they can with school and encourage them to go to school and work and really get a feel for the hospital and departments. I hope they float me to the Birth Center - would be a lot of fun and a great way to see if I would enjoy working on that unit.

Haven't decided yet :) When I started I was very interested in being a CRNA or an ORN, but at this point I just want to finish my BSN and work for a while to see what I like best. I'll probably just work Med/Surg for a while and go from there.

I'm interested in forensic nursing. My other choice would be OB.

Many of my friends all started out wanting to be in labor and delievery and all have decided not to after going through clinicals in labor and delievery. They all say that there is way too much paper work involved and to slow and boring. Not what they thought it was going to be.

Im planning on NICU. I start my perceptorship in January in a level 3 NICU. I cant wait!!

Not sure yet, maybe something in Oncology? I have two sons that have a genetic skin condition so I am not interested in seeing babies born it hits to close to home since mine were in the NIC unit but a lot of my friends want to do labor and delivery too, it must be popular ;)
