I just finally planted a vegetable garden and now i am in the hopes of starting a shade garden. I want all tips you have about gardening I keep finding out as I go that i'm completely clueless!

First things first...you always want to start with the best soil possible. If yours is not so great, amend with plenty of compost and/or aged steer/horse/chicken/rabbit manure. I love the free garden designs offered on the bhg.com website. I use them more for reference, putting in plants that are more native to my area. Natives will be more hardy and require less maintenance overall than non-natives.

check out the plant around your neighbour hood as the are your indicator to what grows well find name for the , look at the space you planning on planting out measure height and widths of trees shrubs etc

go to your local garden centre as the will also help with plant that gro well and you get a better idea of what you like for plant wise , some garden centre can provide a landscape out look or some one with that service also or you could try your local uni for landscape students as often they need to draw up peoples garden as a project .
