I am at a loss. My son is almost four. Pees on the potty - has accidents but that is okay but he gets the pee pee part.

He absolutely refuses to poop on the potty and poops in his pants. I don't know what to do. Have tried bribes, candy, toys, gifts, stickers rewards, explanations, videos.

Any any advice is welcome, I am so frustrated -

Like Alice, even though this post is super old I thought I'd reply too. I agree with the patience part. Rushing it and / or getting mad at them only confuses them more. I found that patience, a fun seat to climb up onto the toilet with (it's red, yellow, and blue with a little step, folds up out of the way when done, totally easy to clean - yay!) worked like magic.

We sang, read books, etc and eventually he got the hang of it!

Hang in there!!!!

This post is super old but thought I'd answer anyway!

My oldest doesn't like to go #2 either and after all sorts of bribes, rewards, and even punishment the BEST thing that works is #1 patience b/c they don't like getting messy and/or in trouble and #2 daily doses of Miralax (over the counter). My son gets one dose of miralax EVERY day as well as I just started him on Pedia-lax fiber gummies along with a Probiotic. He has to be on a super high fiber diet otherwise going # 2 is very difficult. HTH and that things are going good with your little fella.

I hope it helps! It IS pretty frustrating. It makes me so angry when Miles doesn't tell me now b/c I KNOW he can do it but I just suck it up and give it more time. Frustrating though b/c he is a STINKY boy!! lol

I think I will try the sitting and singing with him. I think he thinks he has to get it out quickly like pee and it confuses him. THanks!!!!!

Hmmm...the thing I did was when he said he didn't "feel good"..that was my cue he needed to poop so I sat him on the potty...sat on the tub beside him and sang songs with him. I never left him. I sat there for EVER it seemed like singing and doing hand gestures...every now and then I'd tell him to "push" and we made a game out of that. About 20 minutes later, he pooped!!! He still has accidents but he is getting the hang of it! Good luck!!!

Does he pee standing or sitting? My friend's son has had the same issue and she figured out that if they have hit pee sitting periodically, he'll poop when he pees.

I am not sure while he still poops in his pants, does he get grossed out when he does it, or is he content to sit in it?

Only at night - right before he goes to bed and is right back in underpants first thing. He is such a heavy sleeper that if I didn't put something like that on him I would be cleaning up after him every single morning.

He is in underpants all day long, even through naps if he takes one. He doesn't seem to mind pooping in his underpants. He did tell me yesterday that he thinks there are monsters in the potty - so I will have to cast the monsters out! Hopefully we are making some progress by him telling me that....thanks!
