Hello, My kids love Mac and Cheese ! What child don't right?! I am looking for some creative additions to add to the Mac and Cheese to make it a little more HEALTHIER. Does anyone have some ideas that they would like to share? Thank you ! Rose

Hello Kaitlin ! Thank you for the Mac and Cheese Recipe ! My kids love Mac and Cheese and I am always looking for other ways to perk it up a bit instead of having it the same 'ol way. Your Recipe sounds really yummy and I will try it tomorrow for dinner and see what they think and I will let you know the outcome ! I am sure they will love it ! Sure. We love it here too!
First, use whole wheat pastas, and add veggies or chicken or other meats.
1/2 pound elbow macaroni
2 tablespoons butter
3 tbs egg beaters or whites (some people even use real eggs but I tend not to just in case it doesn't fully cook)
3 tbs milk
10 ounces sharp cheddar, shredded (you can use any cheese, and I usually add a dash of parm)

additives: 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce
1 teaspoon kosher salt
Fresh black pepper
3/4 teaspoon dry mustard

Directions

In a large pot of boiling, salted water cook the pasta to al dente and drain. Return to the pot and melt in the butter. Toss to coat.

Whisk together the eggs, milk, hot sauce, salt, pepper, and mustard. Stir into the pasta and add the cheese. Over low heat continue to stir for 3 minutes or until creamy.
