Grandma Moms raising Grandkids

I am a grandmother who has raised three kids already. I have also been raising my Grandson, Izaiah since he was 1 week old. He calls me "MOM" so I wonder is ther any other women out there that can relate???? I zaiah was born from drug addict parents and has Asbergers, of course they can not say that is what caused it but I have my suspisions. Anyway, we are alone, my husband passed away in 95 and my own kids have thier lives. I joined here because Im wondering if anyone has had trouble with the schoold. Izaiah was Diagnosed at 2, he had special ed for two yrs and home speech therapy among a whole battery of ther things for the first 4 yrs. Now he is in kindergarten in a different school and they have tested him and claim he is "normal". Who do I believe the Drs or the schools???? I am again taking him to a speicalish in Portland to get a firm DX either way. I hope the school will abide and give him the help he deserves. His academis is way above average he is just very emotionally immature and acts more like a 3 or 4 yr old among other things so they feel like he is just emotionally "slow" and because he is academically above average he doesnt need any help. Anyway, I guess Im just wanting to vent but more important ask if anyone has had an issue like this. Thank You so much. Joy Montiel
