I am new at this green living. I would like to know where to start. What changes should I make? What should I be thinking about changing?

You're soooooo right Rebecca! I found this out a few years ago when I decided to join just so that i can see the products' ingredients (before they were posted online) and then proved to a hard core that she is not doing any good to anyone by selling these products. I have been approached by hundreds of melaleuca reps over the years and i keep trying to explain that to me but they just dont believe me...why? cuz they are brainwashed to believe that just because the product has tea tree oil in it, it automatically makes them NATURAL!

check out www.natureswizard.com- there are hundreds of articles written by reliable sources. you will learn SOOO much about all the various areas that are important to 'greenify' (if that's even a word..LOL). and then YOU can make your own decision as to what is best to start with. every family is different so it's hard to rely on someone else's input. if you have any questions, feel free to mail me. :)

In today's world, most of us are becoming more knowledgeable about the toxic chemicals in our household and personal care products. However big companies coming out with "greener" products have made it extremely difficult to convert our homes because the prices for safer products are outrageous! It's hard enough to buy organic food, much less go green in our homes.

What if I told you there was a manufacturer who produced "green" products that worked better, were more effective and much safer than Johnson & Johnson, Procter & Gamble, etc and were even less expensive!!

What if that store allowed you to buy direct from them at their wholesale prices online or via a catalog to avoid hiking up prices to pay for retailers, advertising, etc?

What if that store had a rebate that offered you a "thank you" cash back program just for shopping with them?

What if that store was so big that they were able to offer you discount deals with other national retailers?

What if that store was so big that they had discounts on thier shipping so that you weren't paying more for shipping than for the actual item itself (now we all know what that feels like!! )

What if that store delivered right to your doorstep?

Would you be the least bit curious and interested?

Contact me for more information.

If it is Melaleuca, they are NOT a green company! Their products are not natural, as claimed.

I have found a green company that is cheaper & more effective than what you can buy in a store. Send me a message if you want more info.

I actually ended up making my own all purpose cleaner. Dawn, vinegar and the rest water. Recycle, especially if your community offers it with garbage service. Diapers are a horrible land filler! There are LOTS of options for avoiding that. hhhm, what else. I am starting a garden this spring and am going to start composting. I also use cloth grocery bags. Also when you are grocery shopping, it's much better to stay away from excess packaging. Like those prunes that are each in their own wrapper in a jar! DUMB!! Also there are lunch meats that come in reusable containers which is nice, but the meat inside is in another plastic pouch!! Avoid these types of ridiculous over packaging.

Some are supper easy, some take a while like my garden. I'm hoping I don't totally screw it up so I can have fresh veggies next year. That will be nice and green to my wallet. I'm hoping that it goes well enough to sell some at our summer garage sales. Oh and recycle EVERY THING. If it's not a recyclable that you stick in a bin, take it to goodwill or a thrift store or your neighbor or ...?

Welcome to the brighter green world! =)

Good luck

Hi. I think the best place to start is with cleaning products. When I started I just replaced whatever I ran out of with a new green product. That way I didn't feel like I was spending a ton of money all at once. We shop for all our groceries organically/locally. We use reusable grocery bags, unbleached toilet paper, green soap. There are a few things that are not green. Like, we just couldn't give up Dove soap. We use the Eco line of palmolive dishwasher detergent. It works way better than anything else I could find. I haven't changed to organic cotton clothing or all green toys for our son. We just don't simply have the money for that. I do use products on my body that are paraben free...aveda, burts bees, kind, natures gate shampoo. I try to make almost anything that goes on my body or in my body green. :)

Hope that helps. You will start to feel a huge difference!

I think I started with cleaning products. I used to be really sensitive to the odors anyway, so this was'nt hard to give up. Bio-Kleen is my favorite laundry detergent, and a little goes a long way.
Other things we do are recycle, eat organic/locally grown food, garden, and compost (if you are able).
