Anyone battled with constant butt rashes that look like burns at times (even oozing a bit )? my baby is 4.5 months and has always had these recurring rashes. medicine was given by our doc and it temporarily helped but we don't want to keep giving it. Any Recommendations for a natural remedy? please.
thank you, Shiley's mom.

LOVE the Renew. I've been a customer for 31/2 years. I would put the Renew lotion on my son's bottom before bed and the rash was gone in the morning. Washing with the gold bar in the tub helped, too if it was really bad.

Sincerely,

I totally agree with diaper free time and frequent soap-free warm baths with an air dry. But the advice I got from a mom of 7 and it's worked on my four as well is brown some unbleached flour in a cast iron skillet and use it as powder when changing diapers. Some chemical reactions take place when it's heated and absorbs some iron from the pan, well anyway it works great! Good Luck!

Galit,

I am a customer of a health and wellness company. All there products are safe and natural. We have over 300 everyday "green" consumables. One of our most popular products is a cream called Renew, it is great on diaper rash, escema, scoriacis, any minor to major skin condition. It is scentless and very light. Many people come into our company at first just to get this product. Message me if you would like me to show you the products and compay.

I use Burt's Bees, if needed. I found that synthetic fragraces aggravate my daughter's bum, like those in the scented wipes someone gave us as a shower gift. I quit using those quickly!! Since then we haven't had an rash issues.

My little man had a really bad rash that just wouldn't go away in the end we tried Apple cider and the cream the doc gave us, I tried both on their own but neither took the rash away completely but when I wiped first with the cider, than with the cream it worked really well. This was after I tried everything else and he hardly every wore nappies.

"Naked time" is a priority (even just 10 minutes a day without a diaper will help), and then- creams that don't have mineral oil (try making your own with olive oil and beeswax- that's all that's in it!), lanolin, and cornstarch. Also, not wiping after a wet diaper also cuts down on irritation. After a poo, you can either wipe and then add cream once the skin is DRY, or wash with baby wash, and again add cream once his skin is completely dry. Don't buy into the commercial stuff- they just mask the problem.

I only use Burt's Bees diaper cream. Pure ingredients, smells fantastic, and it cured a bleeding rash on my newborn's bottom. It is wonderful.

My son was fine during the day, but was always sensitive to a long night with a wet cloth diaper. I found his rashes cleared up by using a Super Bummis Whisper Wrap cover with 2 liners (microfiber or hemp or both) and a gdiaper insert on top.

He definitely was more sensitive to some diapers than others. I grew very fond of Dream-eze AIOs during the day. Esp since my husband could easily put them on too.

When a rash needed some help, I used straight shea butter and occasionally mixed in some tea tree oil and/or lavender. Sprinkling baking soda in the bath water can be helpful too.

Good luck!

thanks, everybody. Rose, I agree with you (and Jacqui), taking the diaper off and doing some naked-time for a while each day is really the best remedy (and warm soapy baths). i noticed that some of our cloth diapers (like some prefolds) will irritate more than others and am learning what not to use. g-diapers and bumgenius are great so far. hadnt tried any creams yet. will write more if I do.
best to you as well.

hi galit.

have you tried the Weleda nappy cream (i think it has calendula in it). we used it all the time with our little boy and it worked a treat.

i know friends whose LOs had rashes tried Neals Yard for advice and were impressed - from memory they recommended something similar to calendular - you can use it as a cream or put some of the tincture in bath water.

having just read the other responses i'd also heartily agree with nappy-free time!

best of luck

What really helped my babies rashes was taking the diapers off, washing with warm water, drying it, letting it air out and exposing the affected part to the sun for 10 minutes. In 3 days the rash was gone!
