I thought it was because earlier in the episode or one before, he enlisted in the military and Meredith was saying that he didn't need to be 007 or something to that sort. Thats why she knew it was him.

I was reading something about T.R. Knight leaving the show, but George's character may still be around with a different actor. I guess they could do this since Mark can change his face. We will just have to wait and see.

in the first or second season, he did a surgery and he almost killed the person, so they gave him name 007, so thats how she knew it was him when he traced 007 on her hand, and if you looked at his one good eye you could tell that that's who it was at least i could...

i didnt really get it till she shouted "its George!!" what a shocker!! i cant believe that he might die!! i thought he would just leave and join the army not die!!

George was nicknamed 007 because of his first surgery with Burke. He froze when Burke asked him to do something and the patient almost died. After that, he was nicknamed 007 by Cristina and Alex.

I totally don't remember exactly why, but somewhere earlier in the finale they mentioned that old nickname again. It was strange because I wondered why they said it after all this time, then later I got it. That was SOOOO crazy!
