This does not stunt growth. It could be a combination of things. Ask an infectious disease Dr. to look into this further for you. There are no tests to tell you your child has this, only test that will rule out other things that can give you the diagnosis of PFAPA.

Is this syndrome associated with little or no growth? My daughter had random high fevers..103-104 degrees...from the time she was 6 weeks old until she was 4. When she was 4 she had her tonsild and adnoids removed because they were overly large though she had never had any problems with them. Her fevers would come on in minutes for no reason and double dosing her with fever reducers was the only way to get thr fever down. She was hospitalized for days many times for fevers but there was never a diagnosis for the fever. I was just wondering about the growth because she quit growing at around 18 months and ended up on growth hormones for 5 years.

My son is diagnosed with PFAPA. Join the Yahoo groups for PFAPA. We are going to have my second son looked at in July for PFAPA. It was a two year process of getting our first son diagnosed. He has been fever free since his T/A in Nov. 2008. We are so thankful.

wow, that sounds a lot like Jonas...  I need to look it up and and ask about it. Though he has already had his adneoids removed, and we are slated to have his tonsils out this month... so maybe that will really help

my daughter suffered with high tempereatures peroidically until she was the sge of 2 and a half. she used to get temps of 40C and they would stay that high for 7 to 10 days. doctors kept telling me that it was viral and o just give her panadol.  this would happen every 2 to 3 weeks. my poor little babby lived on panadol for 2 and a half years. eventally she went and saw an immunologist and the diagnosed her to have PFAPA and they said that for some reason that if they remove the tonsils and adnoids there is a 90% chance of cure. .....whilst on the waiting list they put her on medications that were for stomach ulcers (dont know why but it reduced the amount of fevers that she had) and if she did get a temperature she had to have oral seriods and this stoped them within 3 hours. she eventaullyhad her tonsils out in August last year and hasnt had a fever since.    

i just want people to no that if ther child is having the same trouble that they are not alone and that the doctors do not always no  best and if you think that there is somethig more serious wrong...... mothers instinct is very rearly wrong.

if anyone wants to chat about it or is having the same troubles i am more than happy to tell my story
