Assuming that your baby is covered in sunscreen and a protective hat (and you're avoiding Ala Moana after a swell that makes the Ala Wai overflow, ick) ... when did you first let your baby go in the water?



I've heard so many different things from different books and pediatricians that I want to hear from some actual parents. My parents first took me to the beach and let me have a dip in the water when I was two months old. My daughter is a month old and there's a lot of family/friend birthdays over the summer and I was wondering if it would be safe to take her to the beach and what kind of precautions I should take.

We did at 6 months. We use those flotation things that they can sit in lots of sunscreen. when they were younger we always set them up in a very shaded area.



You have to remember that a baby skin is more fragile so I wouldn't keep them in the sun too long.
