Why is my rice cereal sticky? Can you make it wrong?

From what I understand you should always let the boiled water cool first, then add it to whatever! I used to pre-boil a kettle of water, let it cool on the stove and then refridgerate it after so I always had some on hand! Good luck! Once you start using just regular oatmeal etc. rather than the manufactured brands I think you'll notice a difference also? Companies like Malupa and Nestle etc. add essential nutrients to the actual cereal which maybe makes it have that weird sticky consistency? Now that my daughter is old enough, I just give her plain oatmeal which doesn't have that sticky feel to it; I just add a little homeade apple sauce or other mashed fruit with cinnamon and sometimes yogurt!

I've tried: Malupa and Nestle. It's almost like the more water I put it the more sticky it is. I put it right after the water has boiled, then let it cool. Maybe that's wrong??

What brand are you using? What liquid are you using to make it? Maybe you aren't adding enough liquid to it?
