hey
my almost 6 yr old boy does not want to eat meat. not even chicken (sticks, pops etc) no sausages nothing. he loves eggs and cheese and fruit. i have tried several ideas (cooking) to make it interesting and tried playing games to make it interessting without any success...... should i be concerned? i adapted his vitamin intake to increase his iron intake (still within his age range) but it is worrying me so much. he is not big build and skinny. otherwise he is active, healthy and on standard... HELP....

My 7 year old does not like red meat. She unlike your son will eat chicken and fish. I understand your concern. I was concerned at first too but after speaking to her Dr. I felt better. She is healthy and he told me I have done enough research on the matter that he is confindent that I am doing the right things. It sounds like you have taken the steps to ensure that he is healthy so don't worry yourself. Get a subscription to vegetarian times and don't look back, lol, that is what I did!

Dr.s say........" They'll eat what they need!" Your first reply is right, eggs, peanut butter, beans, nuts ect. will give him all the protein he may be missing from a meatless diet. Try not to worry too much!:)

I am a vegetarian being that I don't buy meat my kids don't have it that often. If you already adjusted vitamins he should be fine. Trying giving him beans and extre peanut butter for protein!

He doesnt need meat as long as you replace it with other proteins. Eggs, peanut butter, nuts, beans, tofu, cheese, etc. If he is a healthy weight, his iron isnt dropping and hes happy and active, dont worry yourself too much about it. There are tons of vegetarian recipes out there with lots of protein, maybe try cooking a few of them?
