Check out Jamie Oliver. he's an absolutely amazing chef and his website has tons of simple and quick recipes. It's all healthy and made from scratch. plus he has several budget friendly recipes!

I make meatloaf and add tons of shredded vegetables into the mix. I put carrots and celery into the food processor and just mix it in with the meat. It gives the meatloaf a sweet taste and added vitamins.

The best thing to use to make healthy meals for your family is some basic knowlege on nutrion. you can find alot on line at USDA.gov. Since your concern is not contributing to childhood obesity I think that is would be a good place to start because most of time the problem is if the food is healthy but instead how much food the child is getting. Portion sizes are very important while she's young since these are the eating habbits she'll carry with her for the rest of her life.

Buy a good quality frying pan that is non stick and then you do not have to use oil when cooking. Dry fry mince for spaghetti bolognese, cook peppers and onions with just a smidgen of oil and fry off chicken until cooked add low salt soya sauce and pre cooked egg noodles. Yum. Another healthy meal for all the family is Pork Mince Pasta. 500gr of pork mince and an onion fry off in non stick pan until cooked through add mild chilli powder to taste and some sage. Add two tins of chopped tomato and a little tomato puree then add a huge bag of spinach as this wilts to nothing. Cook 500g of dried pasta and add to the sauce put in an ovenproof dish and sprinkle with cheese bake for 25 mins. This is a tasty dish and even my son who is a fussy eatter with vegetables eats this as you can not taste the spinach.

Bake some chicken breasts or pieces and chop them up. Cook some wholegrain couscous (takes 5 minutes). Boil or steam some peas. Basically you can mix everything up. One cup of couscous, cooked is a portion, 3/4 cup of peas and 3to 4 ounces of chicken. I use some satay sauce to dip the chicken in , you can buy it ready made or its real easy to make your own. This can be eaten hot or cold. Everyone in my house loves it. Got lots of easy crockpot recipies that are really healthy if you want some

I have four children ages 17-8. I have started grilling (indoor grill) or baking every meat. I just add Mrs. Dash original, onion and bell pepper. My kids are loving everything.
