silk is really great! i am not allergic to milk and neither are the kids i watch and we still drink it because it tastes so great. it is very kid friendly and it even comes in boxes for when he gets older

Rice milk or goats milk are two more options. I'm allergic to dairy and use rice milk (less chances of allergies than soy). Because of my allergy I treat my children as though they are allergic and don't introduce dairy until they are two (better chance they'll have outgrown it if they had it). I use goat milk products (easier to digest than cow) and ocassionally cow cheeses too. The brand of rice milk I use is Rice Dream. I do use soy products as well. There are some really nice soy yogurts.

well thats great to hear, i wasnt doubting my doctor just wanted to hear from someone frist hand who has gone through it. thank you so much for your help this was all very usefull and i will keep the goatsmilk in mind too if the soy doesnt work out. :) thanks again so much

In case your son is allergic to soy, try goat milk. My daughter is probably in a worse case than most babies in FB. She is allergic to a lot of things. She can only eat organic food and chicken is her main source of protein right now. Thank goodness she is not allergic to chicken. Anyways, after a year on Alumentum, we tried cow, soy and ended up with goat milk. She was ok with soy, but she didn't like it that much. So we stuck with goat milk.

Hi Brittany, my son was started on soy formula as a baby because of milk intolerance and we switched him over to the Silk Soymilk after that. He tolerated it very well and is still drinking it to this day and he just turned 5. They make plain, chocolate and vanilla. No matter what brand you go with, my suggestion to you would be to start him out on the plain flavor first and get him liking that and then use the other flavors as a treat eventually if you so choose. We did it backwards and started him out on the vanilla and his pediatrician said that it was extra sugar that he didn't need and also to not get him used to the sweet so that he never will drink the plain when we wanted him to, so we switched him to the plain and thankfully he switched pretty easily. Now, as he has gotten older, I think he drinks more chocolate than anything, but he likes plain and vanilla as well. When I cook for the family, if it calls for milk, I just replace it with the plain flavored soy milk and the finished product usually tastes just as good as if I would have used cows milk. I don't know what you use for butter, but I use the Smart Balance Organic that is 100% vegan and it tastes very good and works well with cooking too. Just some suggestions for you! Good luck!!
