10 month old with Coarctation of the aorta

My son has a coartation of the aorta and a vetricular heart defect, he has heart surgery at 7 weeks to repair. He has been progressing pretty well but he has now started to have bad circulation where his hands and feet go purple and get really so we have to see the specialist sooner then we thought but other then that he has been doing really good.

hello my name is rebecca my son jayden had coarctation of the aorta unfortunately my son passed away when he was 7 days old the hospital he was born in didnt help him its a long stry but anyway i just wanted to talk to someone that has a child with the same heart defect...

Not sure if you will even still be on here as it has been a while since the post. My daughter had a coarctation repair at 11 months old. She was fine and seemed perfectly healthy but a Dr picked up on high blood pressure and sent her for a scan (just to be on the safe side). We saw a cardiac consultant and she was given an ECHO, within 3 days she was in surgery. Obviously for us it was a massive shock but luckily Abigail bounced back and was home 4 days after her surgery. She has gone from strength to strength and is now 20 months and "fully repaired" with a yearly consultation. I wondered why your daughter had had 2 surgeries as we have only our own experience to draw on and the Drs tell us that she should lead a normal life from now on. I hope all is well with your little girl x

You are very blessed to still have your daughter in your life. My brother had the same thing in 1982, and he died shortly after his second heart surgery at 3 months old. I am glad that medical science has improved enough for your daughter to have a life. I had a few heart problems myself, and my son had TOF, so I know what you are going through. I am cherishing every moment I have with my son because he had several close calls and he will need another surgery.

My boy who turned 3 few days ago also had coarctation and VSD and was repaired when he was 10days old. Now is developing great and today is 3yrs since the surgery. I will write a book about our experience with the surgery and after that - it all has been a blessing. If other moms want to share positive experience in my book = let me know
