I am looking to buy a good jogging stroller. I am looking for one that I can take out and run with and could also use on some of our hiking trips. I have been trying to research them. Are there any you can recommend?

I enjoyed the baby jogger city classic. I know it's called the city classic and I'm not sure why. I got it used in Missoula Montana and it was PERFECT for that place which held the title of no # hiking American hiking city in the lower 48 when I first moved there. May be still does. You can literally step out of your door onto several mountain hikes. And if you are willing to drive, then you can have a different hike everyday for years! A

Anyway, now I live in Tokyo. How's that for city?! And now this stroller is no fun at all. It folds up super easily though and that helps. It also steers like a dream. I used to feel it was a compact and modest stroller now I feel like a gigantic, stupid geijin (Japanese for "gringo") as I try to get around Tokyo.

However I can't imagine life hear with a Bob or Jeep, especially Jeep, it would be USELESS here.

Anyway, I have hiked and jogged with my baby jogger and I love it! It's cheaper than Bob but comparable or better in many ways. Bob are also very popular in Missoula. I don't have much experience with Jeeps. I recommend the baby jogger b/c most Mom's need a stroller for the trails but also some suburb/ city living. If you get the baby jogger city classic that is the only stroller you will need If you live in the United States.

Just don't move to Japan! Or if you do, sell your jogging stroller and get a macleran!

We have been on several day hikes in Japan. And we take the Kelty baby back pack!

Have fun stroller shopping!

i have a few friends who love their instep joggers (i think i may get one as a hand-me-down). it rides smoothly at a fraction of bob's price.

@kathleen: i have a frameless carrier by ergo baby and i love it. i shopped for it for the same reason, i had a baby bjorn that was killing me. it folds up to the size of a small purse and i take it with me even when i plan to stroller him most of the way because sometimes he's just not happy unless he's *on me.

I was going to say the same thing about the Jeep...I thought it was great as far as all the bells and whistles, but it was just so heavy. The BOB is so light you can literally hold it with one finger. That was important to me when we were out on the hiking trails.

I just got a Jeep stroller in December. I love it. It has the wheel that can move or that can lock for jogging. It has all terrain tires on it so you can take it pretty much any where. I have used this for my runs, walks, or just around town. It has a place to plug an IPod or Mp3 player into with a speaker if that's something you like. I know I enjoy listening to music while I run, and it's easier than having headphones in. And it has plenty of storage, compartments on the sides and a good size compartment underneath. The only downfall is that it's heavier than most, and if you’re looking for a light weight one this wouldn't be it. Good luck and hope this helps a little.

I know they cost a lot of money, but I have gotten many hand me downs and have also spent a fortune on strollers I don't use. I 100% recommend the BOB stroller! The thing is awesome! I got the one with the rugged tires and the option of the front wheel that can swivel or stay in place. I wish I had just gotten that one in the first place. I know it is a hard decision to make, especially when you are spending that kind of money, but I promise you its worth it! You wont ever need another stroller!!!

the ergo is great for walking and was designed by a maui mom tired of not being able to use strollers on their amazing hiking trails but you can't run in it safely.

I went through countless strollers my baby's first year, I feel like an expert some days.
Here are so thoughts-- you want a front tire able to lock in place- best for running Swivel great for hiking or walking. Don't buy one with a fixed tire-- it is not versatile enough. I like air filled tires-- rubber runs down too quickly. Loads of reflective material and a deep canopy to offer baby as much sun protection as possible- better for the eyes too. Adjustable handle to accommodate any stride. Trek made some with seat covers that velcro in and out for easy cleaning-- great idea. A cup holder for baby, water bottle space for you. Built in bug net and rain guard are great because the bug netting you buy for 4.99 is elastic and has a bunch of slack that allow baby to grab onto or for bugs to land and bite through the netting. it needs a place to connect baby links/toys! Stay far from the baby trend- I know it is tempting b.c it is cheap, but they are built terribly. I have used BOB(pricey but amazing), Trek(still using, I won't ever give it up), instep(impressive for the price), Valco(okay but more for shopping than trails or running), Burley (not a long stride path) and several others. I also like massive organization pockets for (sunscreen, bug net, I-pod, baby snacks), you can never underestimate how handy it is to know just where everything is. try to buy where you can use it 30 days or money back if you are going brand new or borrow from a friend for 2-3 weeks to find what you like and want.

Bob Revolution SE mught worth to consider. It's a swivel front wheel single jogging stroller that's relatively lightweight and flexible to be altered into locking straight or rotating front wheel status by simply clicking on the modes knob. In case you want to find further detailed features, clearer images, and reviews (incl. pros & cons), you can click on this link: http://jogging-stroller-reviews.net/bob-...

I just got a BOB stroller, have heard wonderful things about it - but my daughter is still too young (5 months) to ride in it on rough terrain. I hike with her everyday (we have a hobby farm with some great bush & field trails), and am stuck using the Snugli Front and Backpack carrier for now (had the original Snugli, but upgraded as it was KILLING my shoulders - new one is a bit better, but I am still having alot of pain from the new one!) Can't wait til she is old enough for the BOB!

Does anyone recommend having a better carrier for hiking? or is the BOB good to go pretty much anywhere?

We bought the jeep jogging stroller and I LOVE it. We had a few joggers in the past (a double with our two boys and a single for the 1st) but I was SO tired of changing flat tires! This Jeep stroller has bigger regular stroller wheels so they don't deflate! It also has a switch that you can release the fron wheel with so it can go straight or turn. We jog with it and it fits great in stores.

I love the BOB. And the onlyadditional recommendation I would make is that you "goo" the inside of the tires. We popped 2 of our tires but once we gooed them, they have been great for a year now. I have the BOB revolution, when my daughter was little, we had an infant attachment with the britax companion. Now, she is big and loves to ride in her stroller.
