Hello! I'm new to the hiking moms community. I live outside Nashville TN. We try to take a hiking trip at least once a year to a state park here in the state. I especially love the Smokies. But I also love going to Fall Creek Falls and to the Big South Fork area. I have a teenage son who loves the outdoors and likes to climb the rocks and scare mom. We almost always do a fall trip so we can enjoy the changing of the leaves.

I have had my son hiking in the woods since he was 2 so he has been exposed to it his whole life. And yes, I have had to carry him several times :) He always did his wandering in Walmart. Now all this talking is making me want to plan a fall trip.

I agree. The Smokies are so beautiful. I would love to go hiking more, but I have an 8 yr old and a 3 yr old. That makes it kinda tough. My 8 yr old is ADHD, and wanders a lot. That makes me scared to go hiking with my kids. I am hoping when they both get a little older I can take them hiking more. My favorite time of year to hit the Smokies is in the fall, no snakes, minimal bugs, leaves changing color...like fire in the trees when the sun shines through. It's incredible.
