What's your baby's DDH story?

My daughter was diagnosed the day she was born. She was put in a pavlik harness for 7 weeks with no progress. We changed docs and he gave her a new harness for 4 weeks. When she wasn't progressing well he put her in a stiff brace (not sure of the name). She wore that for 4 weeks and when she started being able to wiggle her hip out of place while wearing that (and that stopped her from making progress) we scheduled surgery. She had a closed reduction and has been in a spica cast for 3 months and at least one more to go. Not sure if she will go back into a brace after the cast yet or not.
Just wondering what the other stories out there are? Was your baby diagnosed at birth or much later? And how long or how many times have they been in the spica cast? Is yours done with treatment and doing better now?

My daughter was a frank breech baby and delivered via c-section. She was put into a pavlik harness at 2 days old. We are still in the pavlik at 4 months old now, but recently had an ultrasound and xray confirming that her hips are now perfect. We go this Monday to her Ortho to find out officially if we can remove the harness.

My daughter was diagnosed at 3 months, she had a funny twist to her hips and was not rolling over or sitting up well. She was put in a pavlik harness for 4 weeks when she made no progress the schedualed a closed hip reduction and she was in a hip spica for just over 3 months with one change in the middle. Once out of the cast she was suppose to wear a brace for 12 months but had figured out how to undo it and was taking it off at night, so our doctor told us that she should be ok with out it. It has been a year since she got out of her cast and is now running and playing just fine. We go back for regular checkups until she is 4. Your daughter will be just fine..it seems like it takes forever but in the end its worth it :)

my DD is 8 months and just diagnosed. we knew it was a possibility because she entered the birth canal in a V shaped breech and was an emergency csection. she has her first appt with an ortho dr thursday, and i am terrified of what they are going to have to do to my little girl. She is just starting to crawl and she is such a happy baby. and now i feel like she will end up confined and unable to do anything for months!
