I am currently in need of information reguarding Home Schools in Ohio that I can get my child into quickly. I would love some feedback on some schools that have been successful for other mothers in Ohio. My daughter is 11 yrs. old and started a new school this yr. (Same school district, different building). She cries histerically when she has to go to school and tells me there is nothing wrong. I have recently taken her to the Dr. for them to tell me she is depressed and put her on medicine for this. As a mother, I am EXTREMELY scared for my daughter, this is just not NORMAL behavior AT ALL. She is begging to be HS but I am in such a rush I am afraid I am goin to get in to something that is gonna hurt her more than help. I have also heard that it takes a while to get everything set up through her PS before I can take her out to homeschool her. Is this true? I feel as if I am doing MORE harm to her by having to force her to go to PS because of the limit they have on days the children can miss. I am grasping at every straw I can to help my daughter overcome her fears and tourment. I am also a mother of 5 children, 3 biological and 2 step. This is starting to weigh myself, husband and other children down in a big way. We are SO very worried about her. Maybe I have went into to much detail here and I am VERY sorry if I have, I just am concerned that if I do not get something done quickly, that it will start affecting my other children in a negative way also, as I have already saw signs in my oldest daughter. And if you homeschool one...do you think it is the best to homeschool ALL? Or since I have never homeschooled before, do it for the one who needs it the most and concentrate on the others later? Thank you so much to all of you who are generous enough to respond to I know what sounds like such a crazy situation. I just feel so very helpless.

I did not read all your questions sorry. I was trying to multi task lol. Taking a child out of school is not hard. All you need is the form for intent to homeschool for pulling the child out of school. You fill out the form tell them what you are going to use for curric. a brief outline and that is all. Pulling a child out is easy.

Don't worry about being perfect. You can't mess it up. I reccomend getting the well trained mind an approach to classical learning and it will help you know exactly what to do for each age level. Like i said the OHVA will put it all toghether for you. There are other great all toghether programs out there. They can be expensive though. Sonlight, My Fathers World, Veritass Press, And much more. Another sournce is Amy Duffy she does reviews on programs.

In Cincinnati there are a lot of Homeschool communities like Check, and also Co-ops. In the Jr High age tthere are even private homeschools schools like PATH. We do a co-op called Wisdom Way ran by us the parents to keep the cost down. Meets every Monday for 12 weeks 2 hrs. Kids get 2 classes and we the parents run it or help. It is not a drop off co-op there is work if you teach. I am teaching a speech class and art around the world. Kids love it.

As for can you do this YES YOU CAN! We have great librairies here in Cincinnati and when you get your letter back saying you are homeschooling go to them show it and they will give you a teachers card which will help a lot to pre order books. Nothing you do will mess her up. You are her mom and you know what is best. Just make sure you are hitting all the subjects you need. Math, Science, History, English, Writing/Grammer Gym Art and Music.

You will be suprised on what you can find on line for help. Just take a deep breath and know you can do this! If you need help let me know i can give suggestions. But from what i have learned you need to find yours and your child style and go with it. Have trust in yourself you can for sure do this!

Ohio has a program that is free through the Gove OHVA. IT is free and is through the public schools. They will give you everything you need to homeschool. I myself do not use it but i know a lot of moms who do and love it. And it is FREE! hope this helps. Good luck. I myself make up my own program using the well trained mind. Homeschooling is wonderful but it is a full time job and takes a lot of commitment. It is not easy and you will have struggles but it is the best thing ever!

I was homeschooled most of my life and, in my opinion, if an 11-year-old is begging to be homeschooled then it's a big deal. Try to hook up with a homeschooling group in your area so that as a new HS parent, you can have the support you need.
