i think it's all relative to how long your baby has been consistently eating solids and doing well with it. some 6 month old babies are just beginning baby food and need to stick with "first foods" or "stage 1" foods.
my daughter, however, has been on solids since 4 months and at her last checkup her pediatrician told me now that she's used to digesting actual food i can introduce ANY fruit or vegetable as long as i stick with the 4-day wait rule.
i'd just ask your pediatrician what's best for your baby. or, the website cathy gave is a good guide to what is generally okay/recommended. also www.homemade-baby-food-recipes.com .

I go to www.wholesomebabyfood.com and that site answers a lot of my questions. I do know berries and any kinds of nuts are bad for under 1 yr because your baby can develop an allergy, and I think cow's milk is the same way, but i 'm not sure. Definitely check out that website though. It's great!!
