This summer I will be watching my nephew and niece along with my son and want to set up a home school environment for them. If any one has any ideas for me on how to do this I would greatly appreciate it.

Look into sonlight. They have a homeschool program that that is great for kids close in age. You use the same core,.teaching mannual for basics and then add in readers depending on skill level. They have full book list in a free catolog and you can get alot of materials at the library. I also found books on ebay OR they have a great payment plan you can ane stop shop with them.

My kids LOVE bubbles - we've watched videos on them from http://www.soapbubble.dk, which also shares all the science behind it.

They also love to play games, like Boggle, Scattegories, Bananagrams. We don't compete, we just play together, sounding out words, spelling, listening for word sounds, practicing handwriting.

We also do lots of coloring. I print out pictures off the internet of a topic of their choice (sharks, Diego, etc.)

We also do cooking together, or playing with home made play dough.

They're still a bit young for formal schooling, so letter, shape, and number games, as well as plenty of art and "writing" projects will help them recognize the basics and help with fine motor skills so they're more able to write properly when the time comes. Lots of reading and audio books and make-believe to get those imaginations in full gear. My son (almost five) likes the memory matching games - he's much better at it than I am, lmao.
