I have started home school my adhd boy who is 6. not a difficult as I thought. Dont think bad of me but I give him a cup of coffee and makes him focus calm for the time we need to our work. I dont medicate just not our thing we are holistic/vax free family. My day goes like this
730am he chooses which subject he wants to get over and done with first usually math take about 30mins
then
800am we do spelling he will write them 8 words 5 times across the page, then day 2 is ladder writing, day three he writes the words in a sentence at the end of the week we do a spelling test online on spellingcity.com he loves that site
830am we do english (copy work) and he usually gets on the computer and plays a game on where to put the comma or capital letter or learn about nouns and verbs
Snack break
9am History I read a few pages to him while he listens then we do the activity were doing story of the world. He is keeping a journal that he will write a few sentence about what we learned
10am Maps we are learning about some of countries over seas and doing online game on find the states
1030 Reading and Phonics I have to reteach him some of his phonics because they went alittle too fast for him in school and Im having to back track with him(annoying)
Im using sonlight books for reading, Flash cards I use Diane Craft works really well with right brain children
Science-He takes a co-op class on fridays for science its all hands on stuff which he is loves
PE-at the YMCA he takes swimming and tumbling I work there so its easy for him to do during my shift
Now sometimes it takes him longer to do things but I put a behavior chart up and he is really great with getting his work done and is doing really well he didnt do good at all in school I had to hear the teacher always complaining that hes behind and sat there doing nothing. and he really hated school. He does really well with me. I let him go for a bike ride and really get tired out and it will make him sit longer and focus. so its working for us. I have two other boys who dont have ADHD I may send them to school I may not, Im not sure they might do really good in school but I didnt want aiden being labeled anymore. Anyways whats your day like Id like to know to have something to compare it too. Gina
