I have a 5 yr old son and a 16 month old daughter. The first part of this year i had no problems, she was happy to crawl around the room and play. But now she is walking, climbing, and getting into everything, and won't stay in anything etheir. And of course that makes it hard to school my son who is like every other 5 yr old that has a short attention span, all the interuptions from her is not good for him or me. So the last few months i have found it best just to do his work while she sleeps. But I'm hoping next year I won't have to do that because it just seems that i get nothing done around the house and have to rush him through his work.Any ideas???

I found a webstie www.FirstStepReading.com. It has reading instruction videos for my toddler and PreK son. The videos are a great instruction tool and there are also Sight Words videos he can watch over and over again. This way I can put him in front of the computer and get something done and not feel guilty because he is learning.

Thanks, letting her color worked for awhile this year, but then she got to where she would climb on the table and try to take our books away. Just being a bother. But maby it will work again next year. I HOPE, I HOPE!

What about having her color, play with homemade playdough so its edible/ Playing with pots and pans to make music. Or sitting up to the table and give her coloring pages, stickers, books, to play with and maybe make them something only she uses or sees during school time?

Those are just ideas off of the top of my head. I have a nearly 2 yr old that I will need to work on keeping busy when I do school with my older one. She is doing k/1 work. I used to do stuff with her when the little one napped, but now she doesn't take a nap til 1 or 2 in the afternoon and by that time I am tired, my oldest is starting to get tired. Plus my house is a mess because I never get to it. I guess what I am saying is I feel ya. :)
