Hi! My name is Ursula and I have been homeschooling my 7yo son since December. He has come leaps and bounds since we started this. A few days ago he read my his first book without difficulties and said "Mom, I can read!!!! I am so proud." When before he would get frustrated with the tv commercial of babies reading. He is doing fractions without difficulties and loving being homeschooled! This was the best decision for my family, My son, Hunter, is doing amazing and we have so much more time together! Please feel free to share your own homeschooling joys!

We're finishing up our 2nd year of home schooling today! Yeah, an early summer break for us. My oldest, Cole, is finishing 2nd grade and Tyler is finishing his first year of kinder (he's a late Oct baby so he'll repeat kinder next year). Both boys love being home, we get more free time to go places, go swimming or just lay around watching a movie. The only thing is I wish upon myself, that I could be a more relaxed mom/teacher. I like schedules, I want this and that done by such and such time whereas my boys are more laid back and don't understand time schedules just yet. They know the sun comes up and the sun goes down and anything in between is just another day to them, but I'm the one trying to get laundry done, clean the house, food on the table, naps/quiet time. And since it's often frowned upon to be "drinking" before noon (lol), 6pm doesn't come quick enough some days.
That being said - Cole is a grade ahead in math, Tyler is ready for 1st grade math but not in reading or writing. So here's to a happy 3rd year , a great relaxing summer, and cheaper gas prices!

I have a nearly 3 yr old daughter that I have been homeschooling. We haven't been doing any particular curriculum. Mainly just doing some worksheets, starfall and lots of reading. This week I am testing out some sort of schedule where we do school in teh morning when her sister naps. We will see how it goes.
I am amazed at what she has learned without me really trying. She knows all letters and the sounds, can count to 20 in English and 10 in Spanish, knows colors in Spanish as well. knows all of shapes. for awhile she was obsessed with Africa so we read about animals that live in Africa. Every time we sit down and do school I am so surprised at how well she writes the letters, matchhes, recognizes patterns.
I could go on all day at how proud I am of her.
