Day Care for kids

There are many creches in India, but very few that have focused activities for the age group class 1 to 8. Most of my friends who are working leave their kids either with househelp/maids or at creches that are meant for smaller children. Ive started my own After School Care Centre (www.spectrumcreche.com) exclusively for this age group. We take care of an all-round development of the child - all academic support (including exams), creative activities and games. I was wondering what you all as working parents/mothers feel about this concept?

Are there moms from mumbai here? I feel like local support is so helpful when you have your hands full with a lil baby! I have a 14 month old baby girl and am struggling my way thru work and life! Anyone out here I can chat with about bringing up baby in mumbai..helpful hints on where to shop, look for house help/ nanny or a good paediatrician? Cheers!

I agree with Mariam. It is an inbuilt mechanism, you just can't help. In fact I have heard that, in some corporate firms, there are special counseling sessions for women who are returning after a maternity leave and are feeling guilty about it.

There is also a fact that, even if you are not guilty about being a FT working mom, there are people who will make sure that you feel guilty about it.

I know, Riju. But just cant help it sometimes and it vanishes when the caretakers tells me she dances for her favourite rhyme. :)

I think women should not feel guilty when out at work. Just love your kids and assure them that you are always there for them. They will understand why you need to be at work. Get rid of that guilt. Relax and let love do its work.

My munchkin(8 months) go to my office creche, within the campus itself. They take good care and thankfully she's near me. That takes off some guilt at the least.

Thats a fantastic idea Riju! i used to think why should I not do some thing like that...The so called creches does not give any other inputs,its great you give them an allround support, which am sure parents would be more interested in. All the very best! By the way, where exactly is your creche? Beena
