Advice for kindergarten bad behavior?

i noticed with my 3yr old & 5yr old daughter singin songs helps them remember and learn a lot, i would sit him down and help him right his name, reward him wen he does, good & take away wen he does awful, i also thinks he needs a father figure in his life, maybe an uncle, cousin, just to show him how to be a man, cuz mommy can try but yu can't. I have 2 daughters so I don't know much about boys but I take a parenting class & a lot of people suggest boys need a male figure in their life. Hope I helped a little

I sooooo understand what your going through! I also have a 5yr old that started Kindergarten on Aug 8th. He has been getting in trouble a LOT. Comes home with notes from his teacher about 3-4 days a week. It's frustrating. I have spanked, sent him to his room, taken his TV and toys away and nothing works. I don't know what to do.



BUT...I am not as worried as I was when my second grader started Kindergarten, so I don't think you should worry too much either :)



I currently have another son in second grade, and he was AWEFUL in Kindergarten! I mean, aweful!! Not only did I get notes from his teacher, I got calls from her too. Oh, and calls from the Principal from time to time as well. It was a very stressful year! The teacher moved his desk right next to hers because he couldn't handle sitting with other kids. He would have temper tantrums almost on a daily basis. He wouldn't listen or pay attention. He was always picking at other kids, etc, etc.



So, fast forward 2 years. Now my second grader is about 70% improved, and my current Kindergartener is aweful just like his older brother was. My older son still gets the OCCASIONAL note (maybe one every other week) when he has a bad day, but his bad days now are nothing like his bad days in Kindergarten! They are very mild. His bad days in Kindergarten ended with me and my husband in a meeting with the Principal.



I honestly think it's just a BOY thing. They are busy, hyperactive, don't listen, test authority figures, are loud and mouthy, and want their way. Or maybe that's just MY boys!! LOL!



I think your Kindergartener will be just fine :) But I do know what your going through! My older son has ADHD and they were ALWAYS trying to get me to medicate him. They would call me constantly and bully me. Saying how these "other" children had the same type issues and got on medicine and now they are perfect. I honestly do think it's an age thing! My 5yr old doesn't want to do his writing homework either. I have to be very careful about how and when I bring up the subject. Besides, if he only does his homework once or twice a week, or even less, who cares?!?! He's in Kindergarten, not college, right? I think teachers these days push too hard anyway. Try not to stress about it too much. It just takes time for him to mature a little more. I promise it gets easier! In the meantime, have a glass of wine!! That ALWAYS helps me :) :) :)
