I think my son has an allergy to cows milk... he is hooked on tea and is waking up at night regularly and also sweats at night.. He started having tea when he was ill with Flu and stopped eating a few weeks ago and now his sleeping pattern has changed radically.. any advice or similar experiences?

my son had an allergy to cows milk, but grew out of it...he could not hold any of the milk down and his eyes would get puffy and water and his whole face would turn red...even though he has grown out of the allergy we still give him soy milk cause that is what he is use to drinking and we like it as well...try the Silk brand in the red carton it taste just like regular milk but without all the troubles of the allergies

Both my husband and I were allergic to cow's milk as children. Both of us have pretty much out grown it,but both of my children also had an intolerence to milk.My husband still gets diarrhea when he has too much and limits his consumption when he does have milk. The symptoms you are describing sound more like the caffeine in the tea. I would limit caffeine/tea intake after 2-3 in the afternoon or eliminate it completely and see if that helps. If you think it is milk related, symptoms include but are not limited to nausea, diarrhea, upset tummy. I would take him off all milk products for two weeks and start him back on it slowly 1-2 oz at a time. In the mean time try soy milk. Most kids are not truely allergic to milk, they are lactose intolerent. So you can also try Lactose free milk. These are all suggestions my pediatrician gave me with my kids. I hope this has helped. Good Luck

Quoting Claire:

My son had an allergy to cows milk which he thankfully grew out of. He didn't have these symptoms though, he literally threw up as soon as he had anything which had milk or milk products in. You could try him on soya milk, it doesn't taste great but its what my doctor recommended.

I wouldnt say its a milk allergy. My 4 year old has one and usually symptoms involve vommitting, hives, swelling arround mouth, upset tummy. Sounds more like what the pp said...to do with the caffiene in the tea. I would seek medical advice

my 2 year old girl has allergy to cows milk, we give her lactose free milk. it tasts the same a regular milk. if that dont work then he needs the soy milk. as far as the night sweats and the irregular sleeping habits, it could be the caffine or sugar in the tea. i give my kid sugar-free koolaide. it actually taste pretty good. i would try cutting out the tea. hope this helps

I'm not sure how all that relates but if you're that concerned and his patterns have changed that radically in such a short time, I'd see the doctor.
