my 2yr old won't eat, any advice?

My son is very picky too and just last night i was cutting up a little meat for his plate(which Is the hardest thing to get him to eat) and I didn't really pay any attention to the fact that i was cutting them into shapes, which is something he is learning about and pretty familiar with. Well He yells out square....rectangle....and he's all excited, so I went right along with him and tried to encourage his interest. It worked like a charm...he ate all his meat and wanted more. Then when it came to the corn(which I usually dont have a problem getting him to eat; howver this time I had over cooked it and it was mushy!) I simply identified it a "Little yellow squares"...and gulp...down the hatch went the corn !!!!!!!!! Also I would suggest letters and numbers or using cookie cutters for shapes or u can just cut the food into smaller shapes yourself if u want. Around this age is when a lot of kids are learning letters of the alphabet, numbers, colors and shapes.....so try to make meals fun and interesting to them....whatever is most appealing to them. Good Luck....I really think I've hit the jackpot here this time.

My som goes through stages like this but he will always drink something.  If I think he's not getting enough I give him some soup in a cup.  He thinks he's just having a hot drink where I know he's something something more substantial.  I don't think this is a long term plan but we'll see how we go.

Kelly was right, you shouldn't worry unless he is loosing weight.  Try taking him to the grocery store, get him excited about shopping for yummy food.  My 2 yr. old goes through phases of likes and dislikes.  Fortunely for me she only likes veggies and fruit...I have a really hard time getting her to eat meat or chicken.  Try a varity of things on his plate.  I play the game, "don't eat mommy's food"; I put some of her food on her fork and tell her not to eat my food.  I pretend to look away, then when I know she has eaten it I pretend to get really suprised, excited, and mad... The excitment usually makes her laugh aloud; then she says "again".  Before I know it her food is gone....

My 2yr. old will eat almost anything as long as it's not a vegetable. We cannot get her to eat them. So if anyone has any good recipies to sneek the vaggies in let me know!

Maybe he has allergies to some things? Can you ask your dr to do an allergy test?

My two year old is a picky eater as well!!! She seems to only eat eggs, cheese, pb and J sandwiches, and i let her eat baked chips!! I try to get her to try new things..but most the time she shoves it away. I would let him eat the cheese if that is what he wants. And try to get him to eat new foods. Make sure he is getting plenty of fluids.

his weight goes up and down when his weight drops too low he gets refered to the dietician but no matter how hard we all try we just cant get him to have any interest in food i was told as long as he has his palm size of food a day it is all he needs but most days its a struggle just to get him to eat that

My 2 yr old is the same way.  She is a VERY picky eater and when she is teething or not feeling well she will not eat for a few days.  I mentioned it to her Dr. and she said never to worry about her not eating unless she starts to lose weight.  As long as they are getting enough fluids so they don't dehydrate.  Is he gaining weight normally?

My 2 yr. old daughter does not go for days without eating, but she hardly eats a thing. There are so many things she won't eat...very picky eater. She seems to like macroni and cheese best. I would like to hear input from others about this if there are any.
