I have 3 & 1/2 son who is a fast learner, be it alphabets or numbers or drawing. He has started counting things by just observing his elder brother and can sit at colouring for hours. Its just that he doesn't listen what he is told to do most of the times and that can be frustrating. Any ideas?

As a very smart little boy he knows he can get away with not listening. You have to introduce consequences if he does not listen - first make sure he hears what you are asking him to do (if he is concentrating on something lift his chin and talk to him), then let him know the consequence if he does not do as he is asked (Im asking you to... if you don't do this you will not be allowed to...) - and follow through. If he does not listen take away his activity for example. If you are consistent with this he will learn to respond to requests positively. A lot of work for us Mums at first but It works wonderfully and eventually he will not even need the consequences spelt out to him..
