keeping baby warm at night

Our little boy moves around when he sleeps and usually scrunches up at the top of his crib at night so he spends a portion of the night uncovered (we use two blankets). We keep the heat up in his room and outfit him in warm sleeper jammies. But still, my DH believes he gets cold and that's what wakes him up. We used to use a sleep sack but that was when he was younger and I think they would be too small and confining for him now. How do you keep your babies warm at night, especially the wiggly ones?

we simply do a nice warm thick blanket sleeper and keep the temp warm, on extra cold nights we throw on a onsie or long sleeved onsie and extra thick and long sleep socks...

This is an easy one that we have had experience with for two Winter's now. Footed sleepers are the best thing ever invented. They make them with zippers or snaps, which is what I prefer. Also look for two piece footed sleepers for your potty training toddlers.

i put Thomas in a tank top then a long sleeve onesie then an all-in-one footed polar fleece PJ then a sleeping bag with sleeves. i also give him a quilt and pop 2 extra blankets over the side of his crib (in different spots) so that if he gets cold during the night and he cant untangle his quilt he can grab for the blanket. kids get cold and so much has been made of not overheating our kids that i think under dressing them has become very common. good luck!

I put my daughter in a long sleeve onesies from Carter's and fleece pj's with feet. When she was younger I would do the same but also use a sleep sack. They make them up to xlarge size. You can also try something similiar to the sleep sack from a company called one step ahead. Here is a link to the product which goes up to size 3T.

We swear by the Halo Early Walker sleepsack. Even at almost two years old I think it is important to keep as many things away from my DS's face as possible when he sleeps...plus I feel like he is extra warm and toasty on cold nights. I read where someone mentioned the early walkers...we have moved from traditional sleep sacks to the early walkers because of the footholes....makes for a much more comfortable toddler:) Check out the fleece ones and let us all know what you think.

it is amazing how babies stay warm at night in those cribs. we keep our heat down (even though it is now truly wisconsin winter). my daughter is one of those warm sleepers who throws her covers off and is fine w/ footie pajamas. guess we got lucky! plus she's another i miss the womb and need to scrunch my head and feet together up into the crib :) too cute

My 10.5mo old son is also very termperature tempermental and moves alot. I used to put him in the sleepers that look warm but are very thin & as it got colder he'd wake up cold. I started putting him in the really thick & warm zip-up fuzzy fleece "bunnysuits" sleepers, sungg-a-byes(whatever ya wanna call 'em) along with a short sleeve onesie underneath and keep my thermostat at 69* & he stays warm all nite & hardly wakes up.

I would also second the sleepsack. My daughter is still using it and can still pull herself up to a standing position in her crib as well as crawl in it. I will have to check out that one with the feet. Good luck.

I still use a sleep sack as well! My little girl is able to move around, crawl, and pull herself up to standing in her crib, in it! They come in a range of sizes, so she probably get a couple new ones for Christmas!

I still use a sleep sack, and don't know what i would do without one! He hates having blankets on him, and kicks them off immediately. He's 11 months and is about 74cm, but the sleep sack fits up to 110cm. It's very roomy and only confining in that he can't crawl or stand up too easily, but that's OK, otherwise he would be standing up in his crib instead of sleeping most of the time!

I put him in a onesie (either long sleeve or short sleeve onsie depending on how cold it is in his room) and then also suit him up in a soft & thick cotton sleep shirt (the buttoned down 'robe-like' shirt goes down past his knees) and cotton pants. This usually does a good job of keeping him warm at night. When I lay him down on the crib I make sure he has a blanket on, but when I check in on him later on he kicks off all his blankets too. I feel his hands and feet and if they are warm he is usually doing well. I just make sure his core/uppper body is warm, as I think his extremities, like adults, can stand a bit of cold and still be ok. I agree that your son looks too old to have a sleeper on - it restricts his movements during sleep and I dont use it either. Hope this helps.
