1 year old and already potty training?? :)

well, i started potty training my 1 yr old too, it is taking a long time, but she has gone on it several times, i don't know when she will get it though. i think it is fine, sounds like it is working for you guys!

I think it all depends on the child, but in China they potty train babies at 9 months I think or earlier. Just cause it's expensive for dipers. I was potty training my girl and she was also doing great but once I started babysitting my nephews one is 5 and the other is 3 and he isn't potty trained yet. So my girl refuses to use it like before and throws fits when I try to potty train her. now when I have her in panties she just goes number 1 and 2 anyways. I believe though it's nothing to worry about just keep at the kids and just realize that they will get trained. I don't see any Adult walking around in dipers so every kid must've learned at some point.

If she is enjoying it keep it up! She will tell you when she doesn't want to use it, and as long as you are not forcing her to do it, it should be ok. My mom had my son who turned one on the 23rd on the potty at 5 months old (he was 10 weeks early) because he had a problem pooping. He has been usinging the potty on and off since then. There are days were he is using one diaper all day long because he lets us know. He either gets really fussy or he has a different cry. When we are at home we use the potty all the time, when we are out he goes in his diaper.

Every child is different. If you and her are happy then go for it. There are a few things that are recomended before toilet training. Walking and communicating. They need to be able to get on the potty themself and tell you that they need to go. Thay don't need to be able to talk but to sign or tell you in someway. I remember putting my son on the potty at around this age. IT worked for a while but then it was just not worth it. He was fully trained day and night but a little over two years 3 months. My daughter is not walking, or communicating much. I am happy to keep her a baby for a bit longer as she is going to be my last and they are only little for such a short time.

wow! I never knew they can be potty trained so early! But my little girl isn't walking yet, and I don't know when she needs to go... You on the otherhand have a smart girl and I'd let her keep up the good behaviour.

hi, i also have a one year old that im also potty training, n she just turned one on jan. 16...she only uses a diaper during nap time n bed time. so i honestly feel that u r not doing any harm to ur child by potty training at an early age. i honestly dont know where u got "if u potty train early it takes longerfor them to learn". congratulations and dont worry about it,just dont force it..

We just started our son on his potty chair last week (he's just 13 months) and he will go almost every time we put him on. We had been having an issue with him peeing on us when we would change his diaper so at about six months when I would change him, I would ask him, "are you peeing?" he would smile and almost every time, he would go. So I figured now that he's a bit older, I would try the same thing on the potty and it works! I just ask him if he's peeing and he goes. We reward with a small treat and then he has to check it out before he leaves the bathroom. I figure, if they're ok with it, then go for it! If he starts resisting though, we will probably stop for a bit. Good luck!

I got a potty for my daughter too. She sits on it fine now and uses it at night before her bath. I think it's fine training this early. I just wont make her do it. If she doesn't cry and likes it then why not? :)

The only reason we haven't started potty training w/ my little guy who just turned 13 mo, is that he still isn't comunicating his needs very well. Its hard to tell the difference between crying for being hungry, tired, or just plain whiny. I do know that he doesn't like wearing a poopy diaper! He makes that VERY obvious! lol As soon as he figures out how to communicate better, I will start with the potty chair as soon as possible! Especially because I have another little guy on the way!

kathryn-- I put Hope on her potty chair first thing in the morning when she wakes up and after naps. I even put her on it during the day when she is playing. I get her up, give her hugs and kisses, then I strip her down and put her on it. I have it sitting in her room right by her crib, so that way she isn't distracted by the television or anything. We sit there and she plays with her socks... (I have one of those 3 tier disney princess storage bins right next to her crib for diapers and things) and I sing to her. She almost ALWAYS goes, and LOVES it when her potty starts singing to her!!! :) I realize that she is only 1 year old though, so when she gets tired of sitting there and stands up, I still give her hugs and tell her that mommy is proud of her for trying!!! The only thing that you can do is to TRY it with your daughter, and see what she thinks of it!! She might even enjoy the independance, like my daughter does!!! Before I bought her her OWN potty, I would take her in the bathroom with me and tell her that "mommy has to go potty Hope!!" and after I went, she would stand at the toliet and watch it go down. I think that helped her a bit to understand what was going on.... :) Good luck with you daughter!!! I hope that things go as well for you as they have for me!!! ♥

My daughter is also starting to potty train! Everyone tells me its too early but she is just a fast learner! If ur baby is interested keep training cuz that's 1 less thing u have to do and daycare n school will be easier to enroll! My daught also is starting to sing the alphabet, and count to 5... so to me its never too early to learn something new!

keep at it! whats the harm in her being potty trained early.
my mum trained all us at a young age and think i'm gonna do the same with my son .. since nappy changing time has been a challenge since he learnt to crawl at 7months!! we've recently put him in pull ups.
his great grandmas got him a basic potty and he's used that a couple of times .. we used to sit him on it before his bath .. but he's not used to it properaly yet .. but i was soo proud of him last week because he did both a poo and a wee in his potty lol.

LUCKY! Most kids go through stages, they will want to use it for awhile, then have nothing to do with it, and back and forth. If your daughter WANTS to use it and is loving it... reward her! Show her how happy it makes you. My 1st two children were easy to potty train, but my 3rd was hard and didn't learn until he was 4 yrs. old and I had to threaten him.... being nice wasn't working! The only way I could see it doing her any harm is if she is forced to do it, but it sounds like its her idea! Kudos... hope everything works out great!

If she is interested, keep it going. If she isn't, let it go. Kids will do it when they are ready,..and it sounds like she is interested! My daughter (2) mostly uses they potty. My son (1)...well, not interested. Boy usually aren't ready until later anyway. I'm not worried about it. They will go when they are ready.

I think that if she is willing to go to the potty then keep doing it! Trust your instintcs, does it feel right to you to be potty training her?

I was going to buy a potty recently and just start sitting my daughter on there & see how she goes. I can't see it doing any harm, she may lapse & not want to use it for awhile but if she gets the general idea of what is going on & knows what it is for you may never look back again and in a few months she might be fully potty trained!

I have heard of people toilet training from birth - I am not sure how it works though.
