I've tried everything...........mixing it with formula, mixing it with cereal, ect. Will not eat it. I'm not sure if it's the texture or the flavor or both. I not sure if she's even ready. I'm just afraid that she is going to be a 5 yr old still only taking a bottle. She takes 6-8 oz every two-three hours. She does the Similac advance. Does anyone have any ideas to get her to eat baby food.

I make my own food. This week I boiled pumpkin, marrow and cauliflower for about 5 minutes until soft enough for the blender. Then I blended it until very smooth. It's still thick so I water it down to give her once a day. I also did pears and apples boiled for less than 5 minutes until soft-ish and added mango and then blended that until very smooth. Put it in bottles, kept some in freezer, and then take out the day before what she will eat the next day and day after. I also add a bit of nutmeg to the vegies and cinnamon to the fruit.
So she gets those once a day, once a day she gets cerelac (infant cereal but very smooth) and then some natural yoghurt plus she still breast feeds several times a day. She's an average size and weight baby.
Make it fun. When my daughter keeps her mouth closed we have a little toy animal that has a taste from her spoon, then mummy does and then she will open her mouth and eat and smile. Play about and encourage her to try the food by showing her you like it. Get other family members involved too. If she still doesn't want to eat then maybe she really isn't ready. Just keep trying. :) Some children like to stick to what they know, others are already adventurous but it's all just what makes your child unique.

I don't know if this will help or not, but my Gracie was very picky at first. I retried every food. Multiple times. This was true for every solid, including cereal, and now she'll eat cereal with juice, sweetpotatoes, green beans, squash, applesauce, and loves bananas. It took time, but she got the idea that this was just going to happen every night at dinner time, and really the only thing she totally hates are peas! Grace is also on Similac Advance every 3-4 hours. I know they tell you to start with veggies, but we started bananas, and once she showed that she liked them, we used them: a spoonful of the "yucky" kind, followed by a spoonful of the bananas. Good luck!

I have the same proublem. My daughter will be 7mo. on the 24th. She also has 6-8 oz of formula ever two hours. I asked her Dr. and he said if she can eat cereal she is ready for baby food. He also said some babies don't like stage 1 foods. He told me to mix her cereal with juices and get her introduced to new falvors. Then try stage 2 foods once I feel she is used to the flavor change. He also said I could give her small amounts of Instant mashed potatoes. I have been giving her rice cereal with Apple juice for a week now and I'm getting ready to try White Grape juice. She seem to love the new twist on her old cereal. Hopefully soon she will be ready to try stage 2 foods. Hope this helps you.

Try making your own food and taste it in front of her. Also keep trying and make it fun for her. Talk to her and tell her what it is she's eating and that she's going to get big and strong, etc.

we tried rice cereal with my daughter first and she hated it and even spit it out. next we tried peaches because their consistancy is kind of watery, she really loved peaches and it was the only baby food she'd eat for a week or two but we finally got her to try more of the watery foods and now shes on to just about everything else -- she still wont eat beef, pork or chicken and she wont eat anything green. Hopefully that helps you!!!
