My daughter just turned 8 months and is not crawling yet either. Babies sleep on their backs now and don't spend as much time on their bellies as we did-thus they don't crawl as early. Encourage your baby to spend some supervised time on her belly. She'll need to build up shoulder strength and endurance before she can crawl. If she doesn't like to be on her belly roll up a towel or prop her on her belly on a Boppy pillow and put her favorite toys down so she can reach for them. Try not to stress. If she is not crawling by your next check up and you are still concerned ask the doctor-but I wouldn't worry yet. Do some baby workouts with her and she should do just fine!!

Don't feel paranoid because of what your mom said. In all do respect, but your mom is wrong saying that your baby is behind. Lots n lots of babies don't crawl at 7 months. My little one is 9.5 months and he just started crawling, half the time he still doesn't even crawl. He does this little caterpillar movement forward. He can pull himself up standing and can balance standing without aid for like 4 seconds - this is all just very recent progress though. Don't even worry though. Every little one learns different things at different times. There is no right or wrong time...

hello tasha you shouldn't worry too much my daughter is 9 months old and she did not start craawling until she was 8 months and 2 weeks. maya saw atoy that she wanted that was across the room and she just started to crawl and since then she hasn,t stopped. my friend's baby didn't even crawl she just went from sitting down to pulling herself up and then too walking, so it varies from child to child.

[deleted account]

I don't thnk you should worry. Not ALL babies crawl. Some will go from sitting up to pulling themselves up on things to walking! When my daughter was a baby, she could get on all fours but wouldn't go anywhere. I just put a toy in front of her that I knew she liked and watched as she reached for it. As her hand almost touched it, I would move it away every couple of inches or so. That's how I got her to crawl. SHe actually walked on the bed before she could walk on the ground so don't worry. My son would scooted for a month before crawled. I didn't worry cause he got where her was trying to go! lol So don't worry. It sounds like she'll be walking in no time!

My daughter Stella just turned 9 months and she still isnt crawling either..i think all kids are just different and they get it when they are ready. My oldest daughter was walking by 10 months so i dont think there is anything wrong with them like everything else they figure it out when they're ready.

[deleted account]

Nothing to worry about! My first son started crawling at 9 months, 2nd son at 13 months, and now my 3rd son is 9 months and still not crawling, but very close. My boys are big and I always thought that is why they were late. Like everyone says, "Every kid is different." Don't let anyone worry you about the age your daughter should reach a milestone...it is so varied!

My son started crawling at 6month and weeks but slowly..but you shouldn't be worried because every babies developes differently..Sooner or later your daughter will crawl or maybe start walking but a good suggestion I would say is keep spending time with her on the floor and she would figure it out. Just needs lots of practice. My son started doing the lil bums in the air too so it could be a goos sign of her starting to get used to it! My son is now 9month and he is pretty quick I have to chase him around haha! Just have to be careful of whats around.

If she likes sitting then maybe she will just bumhop like my daughter (9 months old); she also likes to pull herself into standing positions and walk with assistance. We don't have carpet just laminite and tile and this is why I think she isn't crawling. My daughter is happy and getting around in her own way. I'm sure your daughter will figure out what works for her, as long as she is happy in how she gets around then there should be no worries as every baby develops at there own pace. Good luck and enjoy not having to be running around seeing what she is into all the time yet. :)

Do not worry! my son is 9 months on Wed. and he doesn't really crawl. He slides backwards. I heard some kids skip crawling and go straight to walking. Just stand her up on a rug and put something in front of her that she can hold on to.

She will crawl when she is ready. My son is 9 months & only now he starts to crawl, well sort off. But he pulls himself up standing against furniture & wants to walk when I hold his hands.
You can take a towel & put it under her when she is lying down. (Just under the arms & above the legs, basically the torso) Lift her slowly, her hands & feet will touch the floor & move her around. My son loved it, they see things from a different angle & it might encourage her to crawl.

Don't worry! My first did not crawl until 10 months- walked at 14- she is now 4- she walks just fine! My 9 month old is not crawling yet, but i can tell it will be soon. It will all happen in good time, and i assure you that you will not have a 20 year old who cannot walk! It's easy to make yourself crazy over these developemental things, but all babies are different, so just relax and enjoy!

I don't think my son started crawling until around 8 months. I wouldn't be concerned. Most pediatricians don't even consider crawling to be a developmental milestone because it's not a "necessary" developmental tool. There are plenty of babies who actually don't ever crawl. Both my sister & I never crawled -- we went straight to pulling up & walking.... and neither of us had any sort of physical developmental delay - my sister is actually very, very athletic and has competed in numerous sports.
My son really started crawling all of a sudden. One day he couldn't crawl at all... he spent weeks just rocking from his little butt to his hands & knees and back. One day he just started crawling tentatively & the next day he was zipping all over the place... but I'm pretty sure it was around 8 months - and he's always been a pretty physical kid (was pulling up to stand & cruising around the furniture long before he started crawling). Don't worry at all!! :)

Don't worry and don't let your mom stress you out! There is a wide window for these skills to develop and it's perfectly normal for your baby to not be crawling yet. My little girl started standing and cruising along furniture about a good month before she really started crawling. Just encourage your daughter to move forward by placing fun object (including yourself) in front of her and give lots of excited praise when she makes any effort to move. Also, encourage her desire to stand and see if she will takes some steps with your help.

dont be worried my sons 9 months old and not crawling but he can pull himself up and stand very wobbly but standing it is. you will notice that your child is perfectly normal yes they are not crawling but are they picking objects up, zooming round in there walker, or even walking holding your hands. i wish my son would crawl but i think eventually he will have the patience to do it. every child is different your health visitor will tell you that and each child has there strengths. if you want to try something the thing your childs eyes opens widest for that they are allowed place it about 4-5 inches out of reach let her cry and throw her tantrum and watch as she will shuffle forward for the item especially if its the item they want most of all.

7 Months is EARLY to start crawling the Average is 8 - 10 months. My daughter is 8 1/2 months and still isn't crawling every baby is diffrent. She isn't behind I use to baby sit a little girl and she didn't start crawling untill she was 11 months!! Trust me when she starts crawling your going to wish she never started!! Only start worrying when she is 12 months and not moving in any way!! Some babies don't crawl but the rathe scoot around on their bottoms or army crawl as long as she's figuring out a way to become mobile by a year don't worry. A lot of babies just decide one day that it's a good day to start!

Something you could try is sitting on the floor with your child cross your legs and put toys a little out of the way but to where she/he can see them and get him/her to try crawling over your legs this is how i helped my son start crawling...

My daughter is just over 9 months and still not crawling. My doctor told me as long as she is moving around somehow I have nothing to worry about! She scoots and shuffles herself along, and seems very close to actually crawling. She favors standing up and walks along the coffee table as well. Try putting her favorite toys a little in front of her, or perhaps a snack that she enjoys :P

When i put him in his room which has carpet he goes really well. Dont listen to other peoples opinions otherwise u will spend all day worrying about your child and not being able to enjoy them at such a great age! :)

My baby boy just turned 9 months and he is not crawling yet. He is not even sitting without assistance either. He does roll over, sits with assistance, and pushes himself around. I've been told every baby is different and since he is a premie baby, that might be one of the reasons too. I help him every day to exercise but I do not push him to start doing something he is not ready for. He has been checked very often, and everything seems to be ok with him...so I guess it is just a matter of time :)

Try to set her knees on the floor like she's getting ready to crawl and work with her from there on..Do little exercises by taking her knees and move them together to show her how to crawl. Do one step at a time... Also too some babies do have a late start in crawling stages and can also be early in walking as well. My son he did the military crawl at about 6-7 months and now he's every where...So keep in mind it also depends on the baby too so I wouldn't really worry to much about it. But try working with her on that and also sitting up sometimes will help too. Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with :)

Neither is my 7 1/2 month old. Most 7 month olds aren't crawling. They'll do it when they are ready and some skip it altogether. Babies don't get behind generally, they all develop at their own pace. If she's getting her bum in the air soon she'll be on all fours and it'll all happen from there. My 1st daughter didn't crawl until she was 9 months but was walking just before her 1st birthday.

Don't worry. My son was crawling at about 6 months. He wanted to go and get everything. He loves to stand and reach for stuff. My niece, who was born the same day, just learned how to stand up. She does not crawl. She pushes up with her arms but not her stomach. When she is on her back, she loves using her legs as extra arms. They are two different personalities. Let your daughter do what she wants to do. I like some of the suggestions of put toys in front of them. It worked for my son. even try a large circle of toys and put her in the middle. let her choose the toy she wants to play with. Good luck!

Remember every child is different, my child is 7 months and half and scoots backwards. The last thing you want to do is rush a child. Your mom is wrong with the getting behind. Every child has a different time frame of learning the milestones, she might not even crawl and just go to walking so dont worry to much about it

My son (also 7 months) isn't crawling either, the same thing, like to stand. I take a towel & put it under his chest (under the whole torso) while he is on his tummy, then I gently lift him of the floor, he does bring his knees in & move with his hands on the floor. But don't be in a rush, it will come when they are ready.
I keep on telling my mom-in-law, that things were very different when we were babies, she can't even remember what it's like to have a baby, but she wants to give advise.

I wouldn't worry about it. I have two daughters... the oldest crawled at about 7 months and my youngest who just turned 8 months still isn't crawling with her tummy off the floor. She does the "boot-camp" crawl (as we like to call it) and she's been doing this since she was 6 months old. I try to get down and show her how to get her tummy off the floor and she'll do it for just a minute, then she goes right back to "crawling" her way! That's just the way she prefers to do it and she's pretty good at it. She's already pulling up on things so she may never crawl the"right way" but go straight to walking. Whatever she does is fine with me, because she is one of a kind. I don't look at what other babies are doing and at what age they are doing them because that can drive you crazy. Just focus on your baby and all will be fine.
