My doctor said we could introduce solids between 4 and 6 months when Ryan showed signs of being ready. Just after 4 months he seemed to be ready and needed it due to acid reflux. We started him on cereal and he did great but he has a huge appetite and loves his food. He is not nearly 6 months (only July 4th) and is eating great!!! He eats a total of around 24 ounces of formula, 4 ounces of diluted juice, a half a jar of cereal, 2 stage 1 jars of fruit, and 2 stage 1 jars of veggies a day. He dosent fuss and seems very happy on his schedule and feedings and he is is normal sized clothing for his age just as his brother was... His next appointment is still a few weeks out....

First of all I think you are doing great if your baby is growing and developing and happy and healthy. I love to hear about everyone elses babies the same age as mine and how very different each child is. My son drinks breastmilk, but I pump so I know exactly how much he gets and he drinks and most days it is between 28-30 oz. He takes about a tsp of rice cereal mixed with about 1/4 of a banana mashed. He then eats about 1/2 jar or organic baby food for dinner. He unlike your baby is no where near wearing the size of clothes for his age he is just 5 months and has been wearing 12 month clothes. He was only 5 lbs at birth and but since then has been on the top of the growth chart for his height and weight.

I think babies will eat until they're full. If he's happy and healthy, I'd stick with it. In comparison, my daughter (5 1/2 months) eats 36 oz. of formula, 4 oz. of juice, a small bowl of cereal, and 1/2 jar of fruit and a 1/2 jar of veggies a day, so I guess that's kind of similar....I have been noticing her wanting to keep eating and eating (the jars of baby food) lately, so I think it's just a normal thing!

If he doesnt act like its hurting his belly then i think thats fine. Just make sure when you take him to the doc he is following the curve on the growth chart for his age and height. if he starts getting off the curve then i would cut back alittle. but as long as he has that curve going on the growth chart then he will be ok.
