At what age can regular detergent be used to wash my baby's clothes?

I've always used regular detergent on my sons clothes.Never had a problem. He's 10 months old now.

I have been using regular detergent from the time i brought my son home from hospital and he has been fine. As your son has had eczema i would just advise that when you do change over do it slowly just to ensure he will not have an adverse reaction.

All Free and Clear is good i have used it since i gave birth on my son's clothes and i even wash my clothes in it so we share and it cuts down on buying two detergents.

I am with you on the detergent my son is 10 months and i still use baby detergent. I had an eczema scare myself but it did not get as bad as it could have but he is fine now. Anyway I am not really sure what age is common to make the switch over but if you want you could take one article of clothing of his/hers to wash with your clothes and put it on him or her and see if it has any effect. If everything works out then you know you have an alternative to switch to, when you are ready. I hope that this helps.

I use the free & clear detergent on my daughter's laundry, it's so much cheaper than dreft! She's 10 months old also, since I haven't had any problems I don't really want to switch!

I have always used a hypoallergenic detergent for my entire family since most of them have severe cases of eczema. I didn't see a need to buy two different kinds.

I use ALL free and clear and aveeno lotion and soap and have never had an issue.

I have never used any special detergent with my 3 kids. I just used the same Tide that I use with the rest of our clothes.

I have always used regular detergent for my daughter just not as much as i use for my laundry! It has never seemed to bother her.. I would suggest slowly intragrating it into his laundry loads. Good luck!

My husband and I both have eczema and were concerned about it with our ten month old daughter but so far she has been fine. I have always used regular free and clear detergent on her clothes, just like ours, I just do not use fabric softener in hers. Works fine and is so much cheaper than Dreft.

My daughter is the same age and also had a case of eczema for her first few months. I switched to free and clear detergent during her 6th month and she did fine. To test her out on it I just threw some of her cloths in with mine and watched her for reactions. I must say that while I am glad to be able to do all the laundry in one go, I do miss the baby scent from the baby detergent, lol.

I started using regular detergent after my son was 4 months. You can switch anytime you feel comfortable with it. The delicate is mainly for when they are an infant becuase they skin is so senstive but if you do switch and start to notice a rash or a little irration then i would just switch back until a little bit longer. Every baby is different and reacts to things differently. I mainly use tide and he does just fine even if they are scented.

you can use regular detergent, the only suggestion would be to give it a second rinse. should be fine. just keep an eye for skin reactions, just in case!



edit: i didn't read your whole post for some reason. well, if there's already been a skin problem present, i would ask the doctor if he recommends any substitution of the regular baby detergent.

I really don't know the answer to this, but what I use is the free and clear detergent it is the same cost as regular detergent and you can use it on all your clothes not just the baby clothes. I was using the baby detergent and my sister in law who's son has very sensitive skin and bad eczema told me that she couldn't even use that with his clothes and to just get the free and clear kind. It saves you plenty of money and you don't have to have seperate detergent for his clothes.
