I have a Question? at what age can u start mixing baby food with formula. Mom aka Grandma says now.... 1/3 of a cup of baby fruit food for every 4 oz? Zack doesn't get full with 4 oz and Doctor said to move him to 6 oz every 3 hours. Even then still hungry after 1 1/2 hour. Mom says food would help him get full longer by mixing it with 4 oz of formula every 3 to 4 hours. Any feedback? Has anyone tried that? Is that safe?

Our doctor told us to wait to start cereal until 4-5 months, however, my son started waking up in the middle of the night after he had been sleeping all night long. So we started putting a little bit in his bottle at night. We also started trying to feed it to him from a spoon. He hasn't quite gotten that down yet, but is trying. It has helped with the sleeping. I have also been told to not start them on fruit first. That you should start them out with veggies for a few weeks first or they will not eat the veggies.

Try moving onto a hungrier baby formula first. If he's finishes a 6 oz bottle increase the size till he's leaving a little so obviously full. My eldest was on 8 8oz bottles a day a three months old. You could probably get away with a little baby rice mixed with formula now if increasing the bottle size isn't working. Fruit and veg purees are considered safe from 4 months.

I've been giving my baby rice cereal in her formula for a month already. She has a slight case of acid reflux. We switched her to enfamil a.r. formula and per doctor's suggestion added 1 teaspoon of rice cereal for every 4 oz. The combination works great and she loves it. She is up to 6 8oz bottles a day. All the rice does is thicken the milk a little. It is still thin enough to go through the nipple so there is no chocking hazard.

Girl my baby is the same age and a week ago I started her on rice ceral and 5 1/2 oz of formula. She actually eats the ceral 3 times a day and at night I put about 1 1/2 tbs in her bottle and she sleeps thru out the night. during the other times she still eats 6 oz every 3 hours. But slowly start them on the ceral and before she was actually eating "meals" she was getting the ceral in her formula at night time. It made a world of difference. She will sleep from 10 till about 9 or so.

hi my son is the same age, he has been on 6oz for ages although he was a 9lb baby but he used to go every couple of hours. i found giving him his normal bottle when he first wakes up then the next feed i give him a bit of the breakfast food and some juice that usually takes us to lunch time . but dont over feed him as their stomachs cant digest that much and it certainly doesnt make for a nice nappy . hope this helps

cereal in a bottle is NOTHING like cereal on a spoon. if its thin enough to fit through the nipple they wont choke on it anymore than they will the formula itself. I'm starting my son on cereal at the beginning of May when he'll be 4 months. Hes a fatty fatty and I think he'll like it before bed. My daughter was that way.

i was told to give her cereal in a bottle by a hospital. she is now almost 4 months and almost eats all of her feedings by a spoon. The reason that they told me to do it was that she was not gaining the weight that she needed to be at for 2 months. The peditriacian that i had with the other two when they were younger told me to start them off with cereal in a bottle and when they were not filling up with that to start spoon feeding they told me not to add baby food into the bottle but to spoon feed it. my 3 kids never choked with cereal in a bottle. it also depends on the kid and your dr. you will get your best advice from your peditrician they will know if your child is ready for it.

I was told to NEVER feed a baby cereal from a bottle. I've heard they can choke and it's not good to teach a baby how to eat "real food" from a bottle, they should learn from spoon feeding.

My daughter is going to be 4 months on the 6th. When she was only two months they told me to start giving her cereal in her bottle that only lasted a couple of weeks so i started her on baby food and it is working well for her. She is less hungary all the time. But talk to a dr first and get his or her recommadations on it first.

My son is 3 1/2 months and since he's almost 14 lbs and not quite getting enough to eat his dr said i can start giving him formula. Still not sure how much to give him. I started him at 3 months, he's always been a really good eater. How is your lil one sleeping through the night? That's also a sign, if he sleeps pretty good at night. My son sleep 6-7 hours and wakes up once to eat. Good luck.
