Hello January mommies.... my daughter is 6 months and 2 weeks and she isstarting to crawl. I liked when I was able to put her in one place and she she stayed there. But I am looking forward to this part of her growing.

My question is about baby proofing. I hear a lot of talk about it but I have no idea where to start and what to do. If there are moms out there that have tackled this task can you please help me a allow me to partake of your wisdom... thanks

Hi, my son started crawling a few weeks ago, and we've started to baby-proof, but there's still somethings to take care of. For the most part, you just don't want anything to be at the baby's level that they can pick up, because they will, and will then eat it. If you have any low-hanging tablecloths or the like, your baby will probably go for them. For some reason, my son hasn't been interested in our curtains, but he does like shade pulls. Also, any cable wires and the like should be contained or covered somehow - we had a wire that was just stapled along the wall and Miles just went ahead and pulled at it. Definitely keep your daughter away from any electrical cords, power surges, ect. At this stage, outlet covers don't seem to necessary, but it's a good idea to put them in before they do.



Also to keep in mind: crawling is a means to get to places to practice walking. My son has started climbing on low furniture like the coffee table and end tables, so make sure that any furniture like this is steady, doesn't have anything in reach for your child, and also doesn't have pointy edges for your child to hit her head on when she's either passing by or losing her balance.
