Bottle Feeding at Night

My baby wakes at night with hunger. For awhile, it was occurring every hour to two hours... similar to cluster feeding. A few nights ago, in desperation for sleep, I started giving him one bottle at 10 or 11 pm, with the hope that he would then sleep satiated until at least 4. No such luck. He continues to wake up at 1 am (easy to get back to sleep) and then at 2 am, ready to eat. Despite all effort at his 2 am waking, he will not return to sleep until I feed him sometime after 3. The doctor recommended giving him 5 oz. but last night we increased it to 6 oz. to no avail. Would it do any good to increase it to 8 oz? My fear is that increasing the amount of bottle will somehow affect how well he does with my breast milk. I don´t intend to stop breast feeding the rest of the day, though.

Please, if you have suggestions, I am open to hearing them. We have tried everything we could think of before starting the bottle. I am very, very tired.

If you see this, leave this form field blank.

I have a 5 month old...I give him a bottle everynight around 11pm....he drinks 6 ounces thru the day. I give him an 8 oz bottle at 11pm i also put a couple of pinches of rice cereal in his bottle. He usually wakes around 7am for another bottle. Try putting alittle rice cereal in his last bottle. it works for mine.

My baby gets bottles when I'm working and still nurses when I'm home. He didn't have any trouble going back and forth. He also gets a bottle at night sometimes when my husband wakes up with him. All my milk, but sometimes in a bottle, sometimes from me. I think giving him a bottle at night is fine. Just make sure to get the nipples that are "breast flow" for the bottles. Make him work for that milk.
