I might be a little late to this post, but I did. Jan 30th. After several complications from the get go It was a planned c-sec, 2 weeks early, because my little man was already 8lbs 10oz, they did a CT and quickly saw that his head was way past fitting through, let alone the shoulders! It was a good thing they did it, the cord was wrapped around his neck 3 times pushing would have caused MAJOR problems, it was bad enough he had the 'wimpy white male syndrome' (called that b/c he was early and didnt want to breath) I have offically lost all of the baby weight, but the flabby belly! Any suggestions?

Hi,Interesting stories. I have two children, first born naturally and second via c-section due to him being very stubborn by not turning the right way around. I would much prefer to have children naturally after my experience. I found recovery after c-section okay but feel really disappointed that I didin't get to hold my son straight away and that I didn't get to be the one to physically bring him into this world. However, in saying this would much prefer to have a c-section than have complications resulting in injury or death. Is it harder to lose the floppy belly after a c-section? When can you start doing sit -ups. Cheers

I had my triplets born via c-section on 21st january. I thought i could hang on till the 36th week but i lasted only till 35wks and 2days. Had protein in my urine and my blood pressure was high. The 2nd day of the c-sect was the worst day but i recovered a week later. The numbness feeling is still there though.

I have had 2 c-sections. My first one was with my little girl on Nov. 20,2007, and the 2nd with my son on Jan.21,2009. They were both scheduled because the doctor said that pretty much i was to small to give natural birth, even to a 4lb baby. My daughter weighed 8lbs 8oz. when she was born and my son weighed in at 7lbs 13oz.

I had one, too! However, my was planned due to a hereditary condition. In retrospect, it wasn't a difficult procedure, thank God. The only "major" discomfort was the 30 minutes it took the anesthesiologist to insert the spinal tap correctly. That was EXCRUCIATINGLY painful but when I saw my baby girl...it was worth it ALL! :D

Yes with both my children, my daughter born in 2004 was an emergency, but my son, born Jan 5th was an elective. Good job too, he was an undiagnosed breech baby.

I also had an emergency c-section after pushing for almost two hours. My sons head was stuck, doctor could see him trying to come out. After he was out, the doctor explored and realized my canal is small and misshapen. I will never have a vaginal birth, feel kinda robbed :(

I had an emergency c-section jan 30. I pushed for 2 hours and the dr checks me and says my cervix is swollen and they're going to do surgery. I was so happy to get him out of me but the after effects weren't fun.

I was in "false" labor for 5 days and finally they decided to induce me. After 16 hours or so, I was only at 6cm and basically stopped progressing, so we decided to do the c-section. My son was 10 lb and perfect in every way! He was born on 1/16/09. Recovery was not that bad. We'll see how things go next time...

I started having contractions starting the sunday before, my water broke at midnight on January 14th and was all bloody. Went to the hospital and was only dilated 3 cm and that lasted for 5 hours with all the drugs. I an emergency c-section and was digonsed with placenta abrution. It sucked caused my mom had a c-section and ended up having a stroke and being paralyzed when i was born. (Drs. mistake). Well, my drs had to give me extra meds just to calm me down. I freaked out. All went well and Morgan Rielly joined her sister on 1.14.09 at 6.16 AM, I still hurt, but if given the choice again, ill go with natural!

I had a C-section after 18 hours of labor because I stopped dilating at 7 cm and only 80% effacement. My recovery went very well though. Not what I had wanted but not too bad after the fact!

I had 3 C-sections.The last one was with my daughter on Jan. 8th. My first was an emergency and the other 2 were planned. I recover quickly so it was not bad. As far as the numbnes it will last for years depending on the nerves that were hit. You get used to it.

Hello Everyone as i can see most of you all aree asking how long the numbness will last, i didn't have staples, i got a clear film over my wound i was able to remove the film the 6th week after my c-section, it was like a thick clear wax strip but it was soft, my wound was properly healed towards week 7.

Hello, i had to have a emergency c-section on 18 January as her head was jamed, and she pooed in my placenta, but she's a very healthy baby now

[deleted account]

I had an emergency C-section after 24 hours of labor. It was quite a shock as I had intended on a natural, unmedicated birth, but everything that could have gone wrong did! Afterwards, I ended up with several infections in the incision which took about 3 weeks of daily doctor visits to heal... with that said, it took me a long time to heal both mentally and physically, but after 11 weeks, I'm feeling much better now and am coming to terms with the way my baby was born. (Birth date is January 13th!)

I had a section January 4th, 2009. My daughter was 5 weeks early and it was emergency, she was breeched and they coul dnot stop the labour! I was 9.5 cms dialted when they took me in and was in labour for 10hours(after my water broke) i didnt know I was in labour all day... well I didnt pick up on the clues! my first was vaginal and I wuld take it vaginal anyday!!! it is soo much easier! I was also flown 8 hours away from where i lived becasue they dont accept premies where I live (I live in 100,000 plus population) anyways! I think docotrs rush sections too quick and I wil not be having doctor again, it is going to be midwif and home birth all the way :)... they 98 percwent of the time they will delvier even if it is a breech baby!

My actual due date was Jan 6 and I went into labour on the 8th and was suppose to be induced on Jan 12. My belly is still sore close to my cut. I have to admit the doc did an awesome job with it though you can barely see it!

P.S. Can't remember but someone mentioned that one side of the cut was open, me too and i actually went to the doc because i thought i had an infection because of the discharge. (Sorry TMI) but apparently all the women i have talk to who have had c-sections have had the one end like that I guess it's like a drain.?!?!?!?!?

Wow girls that's alot of c-sections. I had a c-section on Jan 9,2009 my little dude decided he would let me be in labour for 24 hours fully dialated and then push for 2 hours all while on my second epideral because the first one slipped out when I was in the full blown labour so I have experienced it all! LOL! And in the end they decided he didn't want to come down any more he was floating as they told me. He would come down a little and then float right back up again little bugger. All worth it in the end. Recovery wasn't that bad I still feel numb and still have a little pain depending on what I'm doing.

my twins a boy and girl were emergency c-section on 24 january 09 definetlely wasnt planned they both decided they didnt want to be upside down anymore and my blood pressure sky rocketed not to mention that my legs and arms were that full of fluid that they tried about 12 times to put the canular in but couldnt find a vein even the anesitist had problems. then i had all the possible reactions to the spinal. not some thing i would chose to have i think but then i dont have any thing to compare to yet

I had a c-section after 24 hours of labour, I didn't dialate past 5 cm and she was trying to push out and my cervix swelled. I was originally hoping for a home birth, but alas it wasn't meant to be. I don't hurt at the incision site anymore and she came Jan 11, healthy at least!

Quoting Sarah:

Hi! I had a non planned c section on jan 29th. I had 18 hours of labor first and then had to do the c section. I am still numb as well across my incision line. and feel pain in the area too. I hear it takes a long time for it to heal. My girlfriend who had a baby last year said she can still feel numbness sometimes. I have wanted to get back in to working out but have not had the time or really the energy yet....anyone else started to exercise again?

AH i had my c-section the same night. i had to have another stitch put in by my incision weeks later becuase fluid leaked causing a whole to open right where my incison s..i havent started exercising yet because my ob/gyn advised me not to. but i was playing soccer with my 10 and 8 yr old brothers yesterday ahha...its was weird feeling my tummy jiggle..cant wait to lose it..and im still numb at the incision as well...tuesday i have the stitch removed and cant wait.

I had  a csection..i was orginially going to be induced at the hospital the night i had the baby...but while i was hooked up to the monitor the doctor noted that every time i had a contraction my babies heart rate dropped. the reason i was going to be induced was because i was 39 weeks and my fluid level was border line low..so my doc recommended a c-section and i told her whatever was safest for my babygirl would be best for me. so i had her that night @ 10:20 pm :) how was your birth?

My first son, Nate born 3/8/05 was a c-section after 32 hours of labor and 2 hours of pushing.  His head would not fit!!  He was 8lbs 7ozs.  My second was scheduled for Jan 5th, but he decided he wanted out on the 4th.  He was a c-section after 6 hours of labor.  He was 9lbs 7ozs.  We will schedule the next one a smidgen earlier!!  Why do the labor if you know it isn't going to work!?
