my daughter isn't sitting on her own and it's hit or miss on if she rolls back versus just over and over and over and over across the room. i don't think my 2 year old was active at this age either. i don't think he's a slow developer, they are each completely different from one another.

Thanks for the question, Vicky! I needed to read those answers just as much as you did! I don't think my son will EVER crawl because he HATES to be on his tummy... As soon as you lay him on his tummy, he rolls over, but he loves to stand up when I hold his hands. Anyway, I really appreciate the question because I've been worrying about the same thing. People keep asking my if he's crawling yet, and when I say "no", they say things like, "don't worry, he'll be crawling soon", which just made me worry more! Thanks again!

All babies develop at different stages. Some babies may crawl faster than others but then other babies may walk and talk faster, so I dont think its anything to worry about.

My son rolls over, but has very little interest in sitting up on his own and is no where close to crawling. I think crawling is usually a 7-9 month milestone, so I wouldn't be too worried. There are some kids who never crawl and go straight to walking. I wouldn't stress about it until he's a year or so.

My January baby is rolling over (heaps), but is not even close to crawling... but I wouldn't be concerned for a while yet they are all different. My eldest son was crawling at six months, my daughter wasn't crawling till she was almost eight months old, but now she is three and met all of her development milestones no worries... they all do things in their own time!! (babies don't read those books that tell us when they are supposed to do everything, they are only a guide and I'm sure your baby will crawl when he is good and ready.

Even though my son is my 3rd child I have found myself really concerned with his milestones. my son has only been rolling from side to side for about a month. When I was discussing this with friends, it turnt out ones' child didn't roll until 10 months and the other ones' child didn't roll at all! It is normal for a child to be ready to start sitting at around 6 months (my son isn't yet) so your son sounds perfect. I think babies that crawl this young are probably faster than average. They say all babies develop at their own pace and to get an average there must be lots of babies that do milestones sooner or later than the given age. Alot comes down to nature and nurture too. My son is my most laid-back baby and I just don't think he's as driven as his sisters were. He also has them to watch and entertain him. They say younger siblings are often slower because the older siblings do things for them. I think it comes with the territory that mums just need something to worry about. LOL :)
