My son cut his first tooth today. He has been teething terribly for about 4 months! My 2 daughters didn't seem to have any problems with teething and cut their first teeth at around 4 months. Just for fun I thought i'd ask if other babies on this site have teeth yet and if so how many and at what age? Also tips to help a teething baby would be appreciated.

How is every-one getting on with teeth brushing? Phoenix doesn't seem to like it, I think his gums are all just too sore!

My baby was born jan. 27 so she's 6 1/2 months now; she has 8 teeth now! but she started really early. She got her first tooth at 4 months, and just this past 2weeks she cut 4 at the same time. She's a trooper, she only got cranky a little and I just gave her some tylenol and oral jel for babies, which worked good. The only thing with the oral jel is that it runs off quickly, but she did great. She did as well nip at my breast when they were coming through, but has stopped now that they have emerged. Good luck, I hope your baby won't be in alot of pain, some babies don't even feel it ;)

Hi there

Congrats to your lillte man.

My son is 6 and a half months, and has had his first tooth for 2 weeks now. The second is on the way but not quite out yet. He's been teething since he was 8 weeks old, and we used a teething pacifier although he refused to have it, It's only now he'll rub his gums with it. We use teething rings, and the chiller ones are really great.

He's had no probs at all, not been crying, just chewing his fingers, and rubbing his gums with his fingers. We bought a teething bunny glove, it's good for dental hygiene and soothing the gums ]http://www.babies-born.co.uk/images/grap... .

We also have a Tommee Tippee Gummy teether since he was 8 weeks http://www.tommeetippee.co.uk/images/pro... and tried to get to use it a little, but couldn't manage it at nearly 5 months.

And since then we have a been using soothing tooth brush which is great http://www.babies-born.co.uk/images/grap... .

At the moment we've been trying to get him used to brushing his tooth and gums using a Brushbaby teether/toothbrush which is fantastic. Now he's on solids I brush his tooth using a bit of baby toothpaste then let him use it telling him it's time to brush his teeth, and do it 1-2 times a day. He gets used to having his gums and teeth brushed, while easing the duscomfort. When he can handle the other teething brush we'll go back to that one.

You could looking into using Anbesol liquiud, as it's great for babies because it numbs and eases the pain. Other than that we've used Bonjela.

Hope he doesn't have too much of a bad time. but fun with and of these if you get one or more :-) .

Yes, I've used a homeopathic remedy called  'Nelsons Teetha, teething granules' with Phoenix and he really likes it. He even opens his mouth ready when he sees the little white packet.

Mine has been teething since 4 months and finally got 2 bottom teeth. 2 more bottom teeth are coming in now. She chews on everything and yells a lot. Chamomilla and Rescue Remedy seem to help. And she likes refrigerated teething toys. I envy those with easy teethers!

my lil 7 month old first tooth jst came out 2 days ago and another is ready to pop up any time now, he's been teething since around 4 1/2 months. my older son 5 years now had 2 teeth and another coming out by the time he was 6 months old. it really varies with kids. for my kids the teething ring helped a lot especially if its a bit cold.

Stephen (7 months) doesn't have any teeth yet. For the last three months, everyone has been telling me that he's teething, but I don't see anything yet. However, his gums are getting thicker and turning white, and he drools so much, I could water flowers with him.

My daughter is 7months old and has no teeth yet. You can see that something is trying to break through but nothing has come to the surface. This has been occuring for about 4 months now. I often put a wet washcloth in the freezer and when it is cold I will give it to her to chew on, works very well for her. I find that they will find all sorts of objects to chew on themselves, such as clothes or toys.

This sounds like a good idea, I'm going to try it. Phoenix loves chewing on his muslin but I'd never thought of freezing it first, excellent!

My son is 7 months and no teeth yet. He has had teething symptoms on and off for a couple of months now. He just recently started biting my nipple (ow!) sometimes and I hoping to break that habit before there are any teeth to really get me with!

My daughter started teething at 2 months as well. She is 61/2 months now and has been teething almost the entire time. I can see the 2 bottom middle ones coming in and i can feel 4 more! I have tried so many things. She likes chewing on clothing (her's and mine) sucking on ice cubes in a feeding bag or baby sock. sucking on frozen peach and banana slices in the feeding bag, a cool teether called a razberry, lots of tylenol and of course many many cuddles and kisses.

my son is 61/2 months and no teeth yet but he has been teething since god 2-3 months and latey its been getting worse with the biting its more intense and the drooling, as well as being overly cranky sometimes I am not sure if he wants something or if its his teeth, oh and the pinching my goodness he is pinching everyone like crazy!!! Sometimes he won't really eat much either which of course gets me worried. Motrin regularly (before it was tylenol) and oragel and wiskey on his gums has helped along with lots and lots of teething toys we have 4 friderator ones and 4 freezer ones lol as well as an ice cube in his mess food eater thingy lol (forgot the name of it) I hope he has one come thru soon, live will become a little bit easier for us. (I hope)

Like your son, my eldest daughter got 2 teeth together for her first ones, aged 4 months. When she was 8 months she got 5 new teeth in one month. Once they start coming through I think the sharp edges help break the skin/gums for oppisite teeth to come through. Has teething been bothering him?

My twin girls just turned 6 months. One of them just cut two teeth on the bottom. The other one hasn't had any come through yet but I feel it's close. Orajel had been wonderful. They both have been drooling and putting their hands in their mouths since they were 3 months.

My son is 6 1/2 months old and hasn't cut any teeth through yet. He's been teething since about 3 months old. He's been very grumpy this whole time and the pain is what's keeping him from sleeping through the night. All I can do is comfort him through this and hope that he gets his first tooth through soon. Not many products soothe his pain much.

My little man has no teeth as yet, but has had a runny bum all weekend and now nappy rash, which he has never had before. It's so bad he cant sit down! I am hoping these are symptoms of teething as I am fed up of waiting and analysing every little cry. Anyone else experienced these symptoms? Argh!!

Hi Holly,

I have a feeling Phoenix is getting his next one already. I was hoping he'd get a few weeks break from the pain. I can remember my eldest daughter cut 5 teeth in one month! Niether of my daughters suffered whilst teething. Poor old Phoenix seems bothered by it most of the time. The girls were obviously just lucky. :)

Hi Becky,

That's really sweet. Aaron's had one and half teeth showing since the weekend and he's 6 months. He's been teething since he was 8 weeks old, and for ages all we could see were 2 white specs on the top of his lower gums. He's spent most his time for months biting and nawing at whatever he could get in his mouth. I can't believe how quickly they're growing though it's amazing. Sunday we could feel the one edge, by Monday lunch time we could see a thin line of white showing. Tuesday it was out at one corner and a little white line showing next to it, and now the one tooth on the left is totally out, and the next one is nearly all the way through now. It's amazing, this time last week we noticed all of a sudden he's dribbling a lot more, and the 2 areas were raised in his lower jaw, and felt alot harder on our fingers. You'll be there holding his hand and suddenly you feel pain, cause he's decided to try and take a chunk out our fingers. We thought yep, they'll be out soon cause it was so painful, but nice and relieving to him.

Have fun and don't get bitten too often, I'm hoping he won't bite too much while breast feeding.

Phoenix bit me whilst breast feeding, for the first time today, ouch! Hoping this will not

become a game/habit. The worst is when they grind their teeth whilst feeding! We sure

put up with alot us mums, LOL :)

My little guy had his first 2 teeth by 4 months old and now at 7 months,

he's got the sixth tooth coming out. He was never very cranky or feverish

when teething thankfully. When he did get fussy, gripe water did the trick.
